Jukola Salpa

2nd leg for BOK, (night)
Alex had a good run coming in 275th from 569th on the grid, 15 mins down. I then set off and procedded to have a shocker start. I misread the track junctions, and made an awful stupid mistake to number one (3.5 mins) Then completed ballsed 2, I mustve been kind in the right place, but missed it, and became really unsure, and had to go back.... (5 mins). And got distracted by the lights, with nonoe of them going to my control - more just making me unsure then anything else. So by number three I had lost 125 places and was pretty unsettled. Then took a left hand route to #5 which turned out to be shite through green mapped as white (1 min). So wasn't really settled until i nailed 6. Missed a little on #7, 9, 12 (1.5 min) but rest of the race was generally OK.

After having trouble with my left calf, and feeling it a bit, I then put my right leg down a hole on the way to #19 and twinged my left bad enough that i had to stop briefly, and then struggled with running for the last couple of k back. No tracking through the last couple. Generally there was quite a bit as it was similar to 1st leg, and i lapped quite a few people at the end!

So gained 60ish places after my mistake. 413th on leg, 32 mins down on winner. So maybe 11 - 12 mins mistakes all up, and didn't think i was running that well, but terrain was energy sappping.

So not my best race, was a bit distraught at the finish. But the others pulled us up and we got 257th overall, so I think we'll all quite pleased with that, and looking forward to the better starrt number next year!

Note

Finlands an expensive place
"There are charging points available for mobile phones and laptops at Info stand. Use your own chargers. Charging fee is 10 €/h."
Can't wait!

Note
(injured) (rest day)

Lower leg is feeling better tonight, still resting, but a bit more positive now. Not exactly sure what did it, but would say going downhill, as that is where it hurts.
lesson learnt though, don't push hard in a kinda of race your body is not use to, a week before an important race. Also do a warm up (i'll blame the portway been shut)!

Looking forward to finland Team 569 Bristol OK 1

Note

One month, £1.22 unpaid postage fee, 15 mins on the phone, and a Royal mail investigation launched into the missing item, alas it has finally arrived.
A BOK news!
I read matt's about a month ago.

Note
(injured) (rest day)

Lower left calf, soleus maybe is really bad today. Everything else is just stiff but that ain't feel right.

Previously have found a recovery session benefical, but maybe it was wrong to run yesterday.
