Enjoyed my first Scottish.
Thought they generally made the most of the terrain.
Pleased with generally how i was running and navigating, probably the best this year, given my rubbish winter and early autumn.
32nd overall with probably only my first day been a tad below par.

Day 6 - Ardchattan
Seeded start, fastest last.

The feedback from early runners, was it was fast and easy, exactly not what i wanted when i was in a close pack for overall placings with Ali, Ross, Andrew and John!
Deceied i'd go for 100 % no mistakes. Was very supriesed to catch sight of Ross at #4, as i didn't expect to see him, given the strength of his hill running on day 4. Pushed hard, 10s mistake at 7, 20s at 9. Had good routes, and finally caught ross when he made a mistake at 10. A bit rough through 11 to 14, here (more than elsewhere) the map was underdone, and there was quite a lot going on that wasn't mapped. Then me and ross a took different routes to 15 to arrive exactly at the same time. Really dead from 17 to 18, then slightly too high for fence crossing to 20, and ross went low and missed it, so i powered into finish.

Probably only 40s of mistakes, and caught by noone, so pretty pleased with that. Ali got me in the overall standings - kudos, but i was pleased to come out marginally ontop of my other rivals for the week :-)

Day 5 Loch Nell & Shenavallie

Flowed through the first 3 fine. Then on way to 4 oob was on the gorund on wrong place, and tried to cut into what was supposdly white, and it was crap. Tehn bad route choice along the top to control, before trying to bash too straight to 5. Stopped to help a girl on the way to #11. #13 followed a track which didn't quite go to the crossing point :-( #15 made a mistake being too high up and going to far east before relocating and looping back. Then just tired to finish. #21 something funny with map as a bit of a faultline with translated features.

Overall didn't really enjoy it. though the area was scenic, the terrain was limited and marshy, and the map wasn't as good as the other days.

Day 4, Torinturk

Seeded start.
Number one was all uphill for 7 mins to a slightly vague control! Lost a small amounts at 6, and didn't execute the long leg to 7 very well. Shouldn't bothered contouring out of 6. Ross started to catch me 2 mins here. Stayed infront of him too #10, and on the uphill to #11 him and the sweded (-4 min) went through me. A bit off on #17. Was back with swede by this point, who had directed me to #18 (in swedish). then powered through to the finish. Had andy 2 mins in front, and thought I'd run quicker than him when i heard half way to 22 that he'd just finished, but alas he beat me today.
Good burnup, but I'm never good at burnups
Nice map and course planning of limited terrain

Day 3
Creag Mhic Chailein
Classic day

Had been having big problems with heals first two days, so padded shoes, and was nervous how'd they hold up. Slight error on #3 20s. Then settled into it. Glad i wasn't out first, it would've been hard work bashing down the bracken for the rest of us. Got passed by Tom beasent through 11/12/13, then back on my own. the leg to number 15 was absolutly brutal, I was glad the control was there when i thought i'd got to it.
Made an error at 18, went too far north, then went to the wrong hill. lost maybe 1.20s, then really tired on hill up to 22.

Reasonbly happy with race, only 2minish of mistakes all up. Felt ok physcially, just tired from high leg lifting, could still jog after i finished.
Brutal day.

Day 2
Middle distance

Got #1 alright which was tough. Small error to #3. Ran a really bad route to #4, north and in grot. Then things were going alright, enjoyed the area. Completly spannered route to #12 and missed the control. Caught up rich guio at this point and we went comfortable home. Enjoyed it just annoyed with my error at #12.

Scottish 6 days, M21E

Day 1, dunollie & Dunstaffnage

Started at the beach at ganavan. Was pretty dehydrated as hadn't drunk enough - error. medium mmistake on entry and exit to #2. had problems with SI through 3,4,5 which was weired, then took shore route from 6 to 7, which was tough running. Didn't spot the good route choice to 14, and ran north, and then missed it slightly. From 17 took a cunning route to path north of 16 to 18.

Winner Oli 56.34
me 78.49 56/68

hopefully got rid of some cobewebs for the rest of the week.
Good course planning on an averagish area.
