Big hike with Zoolander and RC in Bragg Creek. We parked on Canyon Creek road and walked the dirt road (7km) to the trail head up to the Ice Cave (1km). The trail up the mountain to the Ice Cave was a mix of single track dirt trail and skree. First time hiking on skree -pretty scary stuff! Speaking of scary stuff, we came face to face with a big black bear named Roger. It's a good thing I was looking ahead otherwise Zoolander would have put his years of "blasting" to good use. Instead of finding out if he was hungry we stopped and ran back to higher ground. Soon after we climbed up the nearby cliff face a big truck came down the road and most likely scared Roger away but to where we didn't know so we were on guard for the rest of the hike. I'm happy to report that Roger didn't come back to get us. The Ice Cave was very cool and very cold. We brought our bike helmets and lights so we could go in. The cave is approx. 700m deep.
