Note

Finished! And in under the time limit. More later...

orienteering race 7:22:00 [3] 26.3 km (16:48 / km)

Hudson Highlander X. Not sure of the time but about that. Poor navigation in several spots; pretty good in lots of others. Found myself at the back of the crowd quickly and stayed there although I caught up to a group on Surebridge. I had just fallen, wrenching my shoulder and landing hard on a pointy rock on the side of my thigh, and was very worried about being out in the middle of that map on my own. I had glanced at the long leg across the map but not carefully enough to realize there were lots of trail options and the thought of navigating that by myself after I had fallen had me spooked. So when I saw some people up ahead of me, I stuffed my map and just tried to catch up to them which I did. Worked with them for a while and then stayed with a different group after the final aid station.

Had fun but it was really, really hard work.

running 28:21 [3] 3.0 mi (9:27 / mi)

Decided to do my normal 3 miles on the Drive to see where things stood: would I be totally sluggardly slow or just my normal slow? Haven't done any running to speak of for several weeks. And the surprise answer was that I did pretty well.

warm up/cool down 24:00 [1]
