orienteering 55:48 [3] 4.44 km (12:34 / km)

Did my green course at SCEE. I'm surprised at the time - I thought it would take me more than an hour. On the one hand, I felt pretty crappy and so wasn't running very hard and walked in a lot of places where I could have been running. But the climbs didn't bother me as much as I expected them to. I'm not sure how much of an advantage I get from knowing the course and not having to think too hard about route choice. So I'm assuming some of the folks in good running shape will have really fast times. We shall see.

I'm glad I printed the maps last night or I would be tempted to fiddle with the courses some more...

Very proud of myself for getting out and doing this. I'm thinking I can use this as a sort of benchmark course since it's so convenient to get to. And even in the summer I can modify it and use mostly trails in the places where the vegetation will get too nasty.

Note

While doing some serious procrastinating, browsing AP logs, and following random links, I happened upon this website and the map encompassing Stirling castle. What a cool course!!

Yoga/Pilates 1:15:00 [1]

Good class. Bridget, the instructor, who also does therapeutic massage, tried some things on my leg muscles that made my knee feel really good. I usually hobble down the steps after class very slowly, especially if I've run that day, and tonight I was walking down no problem.

hiking 2:00:00 [1]

Last minute fussing with SCEE courses, mostly the beginner ones. Gave me an excuse to go over and move some of the streamers. Walked to the park and found a back way in through some of the green which is nice. Won't call it map hiking since even though I had a map with me I was doing it all from memory.

trail 34:37 [3]

Short hill loop. Felt slow; was slow. But I did it and I ran the whole thing so definitely a sofa.

Note

Printed all the maps for SCEE so can't change the courses anymore!

Yoga/Pilates 5:00 [1]

I should really time this I suppose - I just put 5 minutes since I do 5 repetitions of a series of poses and I know each series takes at least a minute. But I've added in a couple of extra things to work on strength a little more, so maybe I'll time it sometime.

running 55:54 [3]

TNT - at the track with Clem and Eric. Clem kept me company for a few laps. Did four slow, steady miles in about 42:00 minutes wandering the lanes for a while. The rest of the time is some walking over to the track and back. Felt very clunky. Laps were all around 2:40 with a couple faster ones at the end. Clem kept me company for a few but the pace was hard enough for me that talking was an effort.

A bit depressed about this effort - it shouldn't have been that hard.

Yoga/Pilates (Core DVD) 40:00 [1]

TNT. Sandy and I wimped out and did the DVD instead of running in the freezing rain.

Yoga/Pilates (evening routine) 6:00 [1]

Yes, it's the same as the morning routine. Done at 11pm before bed. BRT is very time consuming. One more week.
