orienteering 39:12 [3] 3.33 km (11:46 / km)

Running the course I set at Ft. Washington. It was 50F and sunny - what a nice change. Some errors by not watching my compass and being too overconfident; about half the legs were an approach different from how I set them so I should have known to pay more attention.

Disappointed that I couldn't run any harder than I did. I guess being a couch potato yesterday didn't help.

Picking up the controls on the course - did them in order again so everyone would have a chance to finish. Jogged most of the not uphills, but at an easy pace.

Yoga/Pilates 5:00 [0]

A bit of stretching. Didn't go to class since my knees were really bad - worse than they've been in months - after class on Thursday.

map hiking 1:20:00 [1]

Hanging streamers for Sunday's training run. Another nice little map close to home. Took the trail network off the map I was using and didn't bring a compass; tried to read features and it worked fine. This was the first time I've been on that section of Ft. Washington. I hung the streamers in just a big circle and the course criss-crosses like crazy to avoid trail options in most places but taking the trails off is even better.

Good arm workout tonight.

strength & stretching 20:00 [3]

Shovelling slush. Major effort, major sweating; it counts as strength work!

Yoga/Pilates 5:00 [1]

Just did the simple routine.

running 58:50 [3]

TNT - 3 miles on the drive with Sandy plus the walk down and up. Decided to do 3 miles at whatever pace would allow us to chat the whole way. The goal was just to do the 3 miles since neither of us has been able to make ourselves run much lately. 17:03 out and 16:29 back. Wore my studded O shoes since I thought the drive would be slippery. (It was.)

John Campbell appeared out of nowhere on our way back - he was up in Chestnut Hill with Heather - and joined us for the last mile which made that go really fast as he talked about traveling to Italy and Scotland.

Note

It looks like beautiful weather forecast for Sunday. I need to organize an O training somewhere.

strength & stretching 40:00 [1]

Core DVD

Note

Very proud of myself for actually doing this as I've intended to and not followed through too many times recently.

Yoga/Pilates 10:00 [1]

Worked up way more of a sweat doing my nightly yoga routine than doing the DVD.
