map hiking 30:00 [1]

Picking up the streamers after training. Not sure how long this really took but I'm sure it was at least 30 minutes. Just walked.

orienteering 49:32 [3] 3.6 km (13:46 / km)

Ran the training. Did the 3.6 version that crossed the berm 7 times. Made a huge error on my number 8 by not being careful when I went into the crappy deadfall for the admittedly bingo control on the dot knoll. Lost about 7 minutes there. Was moving reasonably well - not great but better than last week - and was even getting up and down the berm okay. Need to work on staying focused.

Great day - about 60F on the drive over to the park.

Park ranger wasn't happy; thought we should get a permit even to just run for training.

Yoga/Pilates 6:00 [1]

Some poses to stretch out a bit before bed.

Hanging streamers for tomorrow's training at Fatlands.

Note

Committed to putting out streamers at Fatlands on Sunday. At least it will get me out of the house this weekend.

Note

Looks like another really warm weekend coming up. Will have to figure out another training to set up. Too bad Hickory Run is such a hike. Maybe Fair Hill.

running 1:16:00 [3]

TNT - since it was just the Ahlswedes and me, I went over to their house instead of making them all trek over here. It had been snowing all day and there was a good 6 inches everywhere. It was sort of like a fairy tale being out in the woods at night with all the snow. Sandy and I walked and slid our way down to Forbidden Drive right at Bells Mill Rd - that hill is steeper and longer than the one by my reentrant. We then did a little over 3 miles on the drive. It was pretty tough going - uneven footing and wet in spots and just tough to pick up our feet and keep going. It seemed like we were working pretty hard but our pace was really pathetic - about 13 minute miles. I'm really hoping it was just because of all the snow and not because we are that out of shape.

Note

We didn't use our headlamps - the snow made everything bright enough that we could see just fine without them.

Note

Shoveled the sidewalks and walkways when I got home. It's still snowing and it's very pretty out.

Note

I had a pretty bad allergic reaction to the Ahlswede's cats. My eyes are still itchy.
