rogaine race 6:30:00 [3]

Walked through the night taking only short 10-15 minute breaks now and and again but called it quits at about 4:30am. We walked in picking up one more control on the way and got in around 6:30. (I had it wrong originally.)

Excellent time. Almost stepped on one giant rattlesnake and one smaller one. The giant one rattled at us after Valerie took its picture. Scared me - don't think I've ever heard a rattlesnake rattle. Not sure who moved faster - me up the trail or the snake into the woods.

Decided to spend most of the time on the part of the map that covered the orienteering maps which you could take with you. Made it much nicer to know where all the trails were since the USGS we got was not updated much at all. The net result was that we spent a huge percentage of our time on trails and dirt roads and very little time in the woods. Only made 3 errors, two of which were 5 minutes each (edit: Valerie's GPS says 8 and 15 mins) the other a little longer but got all the controls we tried.

Right hip pretty sore this evening but everything else is fine.

Our route was pretty uninspired but I may try to scan the map tomorrow.

(We started about 10 minutes late since we weren't ready by noon.)

strength & stretching 1:00:00 [1]

3 classes on the ship - it was more like 2 hours total class time but they were pretty low key; some stretching, some yoga and some weight stuff.

gym (elliptical) 20:00 [3]

strength & stretching 20:00 [3]

yoga and stretching

Note

Went jet-skiing in the bays around Bermuda in the morning. Tough on the back and knees when we opened it up, but it was fun.

hiking 1:00:00 [1]

Hiking around the streets and some trails of Bermuda.

Note

Emily went swimming with the dolphins. It was pretty cool to watch, a lot more fun than I expected.
