orienteering 1:21:52 [3]

Warwick green course, 5.5km.

Not sure what to say about this - it was not a good outing and I didn't enjoy the woods. I'm not sure how related these are.

I got totally turned around out of the start with trails not lining up and it took about 4 minutes to figure it out and get back on track. This was a yellow level control for goodness sakes. And then I did the same thing again 2 controls later. Arghh. Guess I wasn't mentally focused.

I was pretty clean the rest of the course with only 10 seconds here or there trying to find the best route through some crap. But the woods were really, really rocky and so I had trouble running anywhere. But I didn't feel that anything other than straight was a reasonable route choice (other than the first 4 controls - 2 of which I messed up). Haven't been to Warwick in a number of years and probably won't go back any time soon.

Physically I did not feel light on my feet but the climb at the end didn't seem particularly hard either. I guess I wasn't pushing hard enough.

Note

I had no real interest in going to BAOC for the sprint series finals, since I don't really enjoy sprinting, but I'm now thinking about it. I can't go for the whole week but I'm thinking maybe I should just take a very frivolous weekend vacation and go just to spectate and socialize. I can use some frequent flyer miles that are just sitting there and the hotel deal seems good and if I just think of it as a relaxing getaway maybe it's worth it. Hmmm....

hiking 2:10:00 [1]

Hiking the trails in the Wissahickon. Didn't want to run but it was a great day out. Did a route that goes by the tree that Sandy, Valerie and I used to cross the stream this past winter. The tree is still there but it's easy enough to cross the water on the rocks when there's no snow and ice.

Note
weight:116.2lbs

Crazy busy week - NSF is demanding all sorts of accountability and filing of reports. Bleah.

I still haven't had time to sit down and analyze the results from the Boulder Dash. Not having splits to look at is a bummer. I'm definitely in better physical shape than a year ago but apparently I'm not navigating particularly well. I know I'm having a lot of trouble just reading the map, but that doesn't explain most of the errors I had this past weekend. Wisconsin will be tough!

running 1:05:15 [3]

4 miles on the drive plus walking down and up (about 3/4 mile each way). Mile splits:1027, 1001, 958, 1014.

A slightly better outing than recently.

Note

The training at Harriman looks like it will be awesome. Wish I could go even just to help hang/pickup controls or something.

Yoga/Pilates (class) 1:15:00 [2]

Knee a bit sore by the end of class, but I was pushing it a bit, bending it further than usual.
