orienteering 52:01 [3] 4.5 km (11:34 / km) +90m 10:31 / km

Brown course at Fair Hill. Whoof. Out of shape for running that's for sure.

A downpour when I first got to the park but after we got tents set up and the epunch set up in the back of my car with the car backed up under a tent, the rain stopped and it was quite nice for several hours. So I decide to go out and of course it then rains for the whole time I'm out on my course.

A small error on the second control - didn't read the contours correctly and thought I had to climb a small hill. Then just slow through the fields.

hiking 1:45:00 [3]

In the Wissahickon.

Note

MoboGoGlobal with Sarah Rogers. She was excellent. I made one huge error - almost skipping a control. So mad at myself - the printing on my printer is not that good and the circle was cut enough that I didn't see it. So I had Sarah just about to #5 which was tricky when I realized she never punched #4. I told her and said it was up to her - she could go back and get it or just carry on. She had run right by the control so really frustrating. She was an unbelievably good sport about it and decided to go back adding an extra kilometer to the course. Other than that, there were only two or three small bobbles - we communicated well and it was lots and lots of fun. The backtracking probably cost about 10 minutes and I think the time was 64 something for a 5.4km course.

Note

So it turns out that the computer claims Sarah did not punch control #3. I know she did and she knows she did - she was telling me the control codes as she punched. I'm guessing it was a quick punch - she was the first runner and perhaps the units weren't turned on. Ah, well.

hiking 36:10 [3]

Quick morning hike. Got out before the big machines were at it by horse stables and blocking the trail so started the route as usual but they were going when I was finishing so had to finish through the playground instead.

Nice, late morning hike in the Wissahickon.

strength & stretching (core dvd) 40:00 [3]

TNT - did the core dvd while Jim and Bob ran.

strength & stretching (pushups) 1:00 [3]

4 sets of 25 - one set before starting and then in between each of the sections of the core dvd. It was good because I got a long rest between sets but it sure made the plank stuff at the end of the core dvd harder.

Note

Need to chuckle? I found this irresistible.

hiking 35:45 [3]

Short loop - jogged several short bits on the flats plus the road part at the end.

Almost didn't go out; glad I did. Not glad about the bug that I swallowed. Bleah.

Yoga/Pilates (class) 1:15:00 [3]

Another great class where I felt strong but also flexible.
