orienteering 1:33:15 [3]

Hoo boy - I have not messed up a control like that in several years. I must have been within 20 meters of the thing several times but just wasn't focusing enough to read the ditches. Took 23 minutes on a 4 or 5 minute leg. Even when I tried to be really careful, I messed it up. The trail and contours just never made sense to me. And then I just didn't have the mental energy to keep pushing after that and really just walked the rest of the course rather leisurely.

I had a great run up through the road crossing!

trail 54:20 [3]

TNT - extended Indian loop. This was really hard - legs felt like rubber the whole way and I spent most of the time worrying about whether I would trip and fall.

orienteering 1:12:46 [3] 4.8 km (15:10 / km) +135m 13:17 / km

Although the weather forecast was ominous it was actually a great day for orienteering. And with epunch inside, it was a really nice set up.

Did the green course. Ran a little but not much. The first half of the course was mostly trails and fields so tried to run, the second half was going through lots of rocks and briars with occasional nice open woods, so couldn't run much. A very nice course given the terrain but I wouldn't want to go back once things have leafed out.

No big errors but lost a little time at 4 when I stayed too high at first.

Note

No real training but a long day on my feet helping Valerie time the HAT run. Nice to visit with Ann and Charlie.
