rogaine 8:30:00 [3]

Second day of CNYO rogaine. We finished at 10:24 in the morning and I know I took several more rests, actually falling asleep for 5-10 minutes during one. I'm not sure if I'm over or underestimating the rest time - I didn't take splits or anything. We stayed out all night and that worked fine.

Valeriy was an absolutely fantastic partner. We went at my speed and he was adamant about making me rest periodically and it made all the difference. While I was tired and definitely ready to stop when we finished, I was never really hurting. I was amazed at how much difference laying down and putting my feet in the air for 20 minutes could make.

We had maybe an hour total of errors/bobbles/futzing but only one really bad control - went a little brain dead after scrambling up a scary steep large slope and totally ignored our compasses. We got all the controls we went for, although totally lucked into one that we were giving up on.

We modified our original route slightly on the fly and when we ended up about 6 hours ahead of what we expected added on a bunch more controls in the morning.

Went through my usual getting cold spell at night and had on a long sleeve polypro and jacket at one point when resting. The long sleeve thermal shirt stayed on all night although the jacket came off quickly once we started moving again.

I think we were first coed super veteran but not sure. I left before results were finalized.

rogaine 10:00:00 [3]

First day of CNYO rogaine - I think 2 hours resting is about right. I know we spent an hour at one water stop while I lay down and stuck my feet in the air, and probably half an hour at another and a few 10 minute breaks.

walking (treadmill) 30:00 [3]

After talking things over with the guy that is crafting my Kilimanjaro training, I am taking it easy this week and next and changing the focus on a few things as well.

5 minute warmup to get to 3.3 mph and 5%
Keeping at 5% increase speed working on maintaining form and good posture:
5 minutes increasing by .1 mph each minute
10 minutes at 3.8 mph
1 min at 3.9
3 min at 4.0 (hard to not lean forward)
1 min at 3.9
3 min cooldown getting speed down to 3mph
2 min 3% 2.5

TNT - Easy hike with Sandy and Bob while Karl did a recovery run.

My knee was bothering me a good bit yesterday and this morning but feels better now. Getting out was a good idea!
