orienteering 1:16:37 [3]

Green course at Springton Manor.

Reasonably okay for the first half and then the skies opened up and it started thundering and pouring and I think I just lost all concentration. Thought about bailing but I was already soaked so just kept going. Checked the wrong island on #8, mucked around in the muck at #9 (control was at the edge of the swamp but the swampy ground was a lot bigger than mapped so control was not really in the right spot), and then totally botched #14 by 6 or 7 minutes, missing the first trail, not realizing it and then compounding errors and ending up circling way around. Phooey.

strength & stretching 30:00 [3]

RTP - weight training. Added a few core exercises.

Another few hours in the yard to warm up. :)

map hiking 3:00:00 [3]

FCN checking out some corners of the map. Legs really tired on the climb up the hill at the end; guess I'm not as recovered from the rogaine as I thought.

Beautiful day in the woods and sections that I feared would be overgrown were quite nice. Gnats were terrible but the biting insects stayed away.

Note

I'm missing being in Europe this summer. I've gone every year for a a while now. Maybe next year we will have a Venla team again.

I also started a prednisone regimen - the poison ivy was just too much.

TNT - meadow loop with Sandy. This was a plod; legs were really heavy and breathing was hard from the beginning. But we jogged the whole thing, only walking the last bit on the road.

Nice dinner with Karl afterwards.
