orienteering 1:02:44 [3]

Brown course at Mt. Penn. Wasn't planning to go but Dennis & Emily said they were interested in trying a Yellow course so I met them there, got them going, did my course and then we had a very nice lunch at a Mexican restaurant nearby.

A really nice course actually but after twisting my ankle about 2/3 of the way through I didn't much enjoy the rest. Really annoyed as I was very carefully not running so as to not aggravate my knee and of course I then wrench my ankle while just walking. I must have been looking around for a control and not where I was putting my feet.

Lots of good things:
- Dennis & Emily enjoyed themselves and plan to come to something in the spring.
- Lunch was fun; the place was empty - we were the only ones there - and the food was good and at the end the owner (?) came out and serenaded us on his guitar.
- My cold weather gear that I've bought for Mt. Kilimanjaro kept me toasty warm when I was waiting in the parking lot for Dennis and Emily.
- Ankle seems a little swollen and very tender but ice, compression, ibuprofen and elevation seem to be helping - it's already less painful than when I got home.

hiking 54:19 intensity: (1:06 @1) + (8:50 @2) + (25:16 @3) + (19:07 @4) 1.84 mi (29:31 / mi) +7m 29:10 / mi
ahr:122 max:144 weight:125.4lbs

TNT - Double stair repeats at the track. Every 8 minutes (or so) I would use the ramp to go down instead of going down the stairs as a break. These felt easy but then again I didn't wear my pack.

Great dinner - lots of good company, lots of good food, lots to celebrate.

Hill repeats. Sooo much easier to keep up a good pace with Sandy leading the way. A good 1-2 minutes faster per up/down than when I do them alone. Upped it to 3 - woohoo.

OK - back to the regular training. Didn't want to overdo it the first day, so just a leisurely hike through the Wiss.

Also need to lose the 10 lbs. of the 15lbs. I lost earlier this year that I put back on this fall. I know I eat more than I need to, but I also have TSH levels that are creeping up which might be a factor. Have an appointment with my doctor right after Thanksgiving to discuss possible medication.
