Note

And another cold one today although it was always above 0. But it was windy.

Digging the trench to bury the cable for the finish timing was a little tricky - ended up using a big nail (for staking down tents) to dig the trench since the shovel was useless.

Got everything wrapped up by about 12:30 and hit the road.

Ed had a pretty sweet start gate and finish line automatic timing system in place which worked well. The only thing that didn't work was the splits printer - it didn't like the cold and wouldn't work outside.

I whined a bit when arrived on Thursday wondering why I had driven all the way up there when I don't really even ski. But I had a good time. I also stayed with Kent and Jean and had been meaning to visit them for a while so that worked well.

Kent's photos are awesome: http://www.ksclick.com/

Note

Much warmer today. But, it started to rain in the afternoon. 35 and raining is the absolute worst weather.

Note

It was -9F when I got in my car to head over to the SkiO for the day. I don't think I've ever seen negative temps in my car before.

Luckily my job mostly involved staying in the heated timing hut.

Drove to Vermont to help with the SkiO Champs. Managed to bring the sun with me - the big storm ended just as I was getting there although parts of I-89 were down to one lane.

TNT - totally forgot to start my watch so time is an estimate.

Hiked down and then jogged 1 1/2 miles on the drive. Felt okay but the drive was was still very slushy and slippery and I could feel my right hamstring tightening and something around my knee wasn't happy either so walked the last 1/2 mile and hike back up the hill.

Will be very happy when all the snow and slush and ice is gone.
