Note

I haven't posted anything from the weekend yet. I will at some point. I'm really disappointed in my Sunday effort so part of it is just being a bad sport but I'm also totally exhausted. I'm not sure why but it's been a struggle to do anything except eat, sleep, read and watch tv since I got home. I don't feel sick, just incapable of doing anything requiring effort.

Also, I have to fix my GPS track before uploading.

I'm cruising down the GSP on the way home and I periodically hear a buzzing sound but can not figure out what it is. I decided to stop for a quick rest and to check to make sure I had put my shoes in the car as I was having visions of having left them in the grass next to where I had parked. I open the hatch and my shoes are there - whew! - but then I notice my GPS watch is buzzing and I realize I never stopped my watch after finishing. It was going off every mile and then telling me I was crushing records for fastest mile and most miles and other things.

So, I have not wanted to download my tracks until I figure out how to fix that.

Course setting scouting at Germantown Academy. Really amazing campus. Should be fun but I am redoing all my tentative plans after seeing exactly what things were like and where it is reasonable and not reasonable to go.

My extra loop at #8 is just depressing. Totally lost focus and then could not recover.

Watch didn't kick in until almost #1. I started it before I had GPS signal.

Not feeling all that great and my knees hurt and Roger had had enough so I chose to go back to the hotel and skip the sprint. I made the right choice but I'm sorry I missed it - it looks like a really fun sprint with a lot of unusual twists.

orienteering 41:05 intensity: (44 @1) + (1:52 @2) + (7:28 @3) + (13:12 @4) + (17:49 @5) 1.83 mi (22:27 / mi) +95m 19:21 / mi

Started watch 3 minutes early at the call up line.

Reasonably clean outing but not very fast. My bad route choice was to try to go straight down a rocky cliff on the way to #9. I ended up having to sit down and slide in the mud - should have taken the time to go around as it would have been faster. Annoyed at the end when I could read whether or not I could through the fence closer to the finish so went around but you actually could get through.

Class at the gym. I was really sore yesterday and my knees were bad today. I may have to rethink this whole running idea.

Drove down to FDR and checked it out during the time we will be having our first event there. Wanted to get a sense of how busy the park was. There was lots going on, but not by the American Swedish Historical Museum, so things should be fine. Vandalism is still a concern but here's hoping it will be okay.

Checked all my control sites and had to move a couple. Things have greened up considerably and I didn't always guess right on what would be mowed consistently. Ah well.

Also checked out the exhibit in the museum. Lots of really interesting stuff. I hope people take the time to visit when they come for the event.
