Note

An interesting 48 hours or so. I started getting some twinges in my left jaw on Saturday but I've had problems with tooth sensitivity so I just ignored it. Then yesterday morning it was more of a steady ache and I took some ibuprofen and was fine. But then last night it got pretty bad and I couldn't sleep. This morning I called my dentist - the office is closed but they are doing some telemedicine and taking emergency patients - and they listened to my symptoms and asked if I could get in right away, they were there taking care of someone else and could see me right then. I raced over there wondering if I was totally over-reacting and would feel foolish when they couldn't find anything wrong. But after a few seconds of poking around and an x-ray to verify things, they drained an abscess in my wisdom tooth root and put me on antibiotics and told me to try and get a follow up with an endodontist as soon as reasonable, not urgent but I would most likely need a root canal and if I wait too long it will just get infected again.

So, glad there was a reason for the pain and that I wasn't just being a wuss but not so happy I need a root canal.

It was surprisingly hard to make the decision that going out for this was ok.

Peloton strength class. It was good.

Completely unmotivated today. Should have been grading homework but it didn't happen. Finally decided to get outside on the crowded Wissahickon trails.

Really buggy. Little biting gnat like things. Annoying.

strength & stretching 40:00 [3]

Put my watch on but never started it. :(

Another decent free on-line workout:

I plan to try the free Peleton app. next.

Note

I just went to the grocery store for the first time in over a week. It was very interesting to see which items were gone. I wasn't expecting to see flour emptied out - are people suddenly deciding to bake, are they baking with their kids, or what? There was plenty of the bread in the bread aisle so it didn't make sense to me. Must be missing something.

But the big takeaway was driving past the "New Frontier Outfitters" store. There was a long snaking line of people who I am assuming were buying guns and/or ammunition. That has really shaken me up.

It turns out, that when I was young and unaware of what was going on in the world, during the scary beginnings of the cold war, my parents bought a rifle and hid it behind a fake panel in their closet. I was never aware when I was little, but only learned of it 15 or so years ago. They must have been pretty scared of what might happen to decide to bring a gun into a house with 6 kids.

Is the same thing going to happen now? Are people arming themselves in anticipation of a total breakdown of society? This is not good.

Some yard work then around the meadow loop. Again, tons of people out - lots of kids with (I presume) their parents and lots of older folks. And everyone was getting off the trail to pass keeping much more distance than a few days ago.

Yard work takes its toll on my back so I just did a short easy loop.

Pretty good workout and it was free. Just modified the jumping stuff but they had someone showing modified moves so it all worked.

Hopefully I can find a few more of these so I don't get tired of just one.
