3 times around the neighborhood loop stopping at my house to get water after each loop. Clouded up a bit for the last loop and the wind picked up a bit which was nice.
Second night I couldn't sleep. I think it's because I turned the AC on; I just don't like it. Finally got to sleep around 2:30am and was very stiff and achy when I woke up so decided today would be a rest day.

UsynligO Lost Lakes Advanced 2
Apparently I mispunched. I didn't realize the app would let you do that so didn't realize it until later in the evening when I wondered why the app kept wanting me to do something and I looked more carefully. Bummer.
This was the 5.0km course at Lost Lakes. My goal was to beat my time on the 3.9km course since I had messed that one up so badly.
Thought #1 would be easy, and it sort of was but I once again didn't go far enough. There was a lot of marshy ground on the way so I kept stopping and circling waiting for the app to signal I was there and then finally realized I had to go past the evergreens and then it was right in front me. Phooey. I then settled in somewhat for 2-10. Had trouble again on 3 - "again" because it was on the other course, and I'm still not sure what marsh the control is supposed to be on. Just went to the hilltop in the circle and the app was happy. Almost screwed up 8 as I started heading to 9 for a bit before realizing I was supposed to be going to 8. And then #11 just never made complete sense. I decided to go sort of straight following game trails (or something) through the green and thought I was keeping good track of the swamps to either side of me. But again I probably just didn't go far enough. It was really green - not hard to get through but you couldn't see much to discern any of the subtle contours - and eventually I decided I really didn't know where I was anymore and so was bailing to a trail when the app signaled I was there. Or so I thought. In reality I was at #14, a very close-by control that if I had known that's what was going on, getting to #11 from there would have been straightforward. But I keep my phone in my small camelbak on my back and never look at it during the course so didn't even think that's what I might have done. I attacked 12 from a trail so it didn't matter that I was coming from 14 and not 11. 13 was straightforward but then I inexplicably headed for 14 in a not very good direction. I should have been able to recover but I was rattled enough that I wasn't confident and backtracked most of the way to 13 to attack 14 again. No problem this time and coming from a completely different direction and being on the other side of green from my previous visit, I had no clue that I had been there before.
Almost messed up on the way to 15 when I cut off from the trail at the beginning of the leg and ended up on a different hill than I thought. Figured it out pretty fast, told myself to buckle down and start paying more attention and did 15-20 without much trouble. Really slow to 21 since I couldn't figure out where the end of the swamp was so my safe and sure route took forever as I kept hesitating. 22-27 were fine except once again didn't go far enough on 24, backtracked, decided no, I had been right, and then went right to it.
Another really, really fun outing. Thanks, Greg. This has been so motivating. I should learn how to set my own courses using UsynligO since I would love to go back again and try another one on this map. But there are a couple more new places to try first.
I also need to recalibrate my distance sense and/or pace counting. I'm guessing as I get older I'm just not taking as big steps and not moving as fast so I need to deliberately adjust.
Finished the day off with a stop at Dennis's house for a socially distanced dinner then made a detour to Scott's house to deliver his share of the dinner. It was his birthday - he's 35!
I don't like AC in general, so I turn it off whenever I can. Maybe should think about turning it n for these sessions. I feel like I've been sitting in a sauna.

I decided a while ago that if I could get my weight under 130 then my knees might be able to handle a little jogging. So this morning I did the meadow loop, jogging randomly when I felt like it. Only saw a few other people (2 groups of 2) and everyone was good about getting off the trail for each other so I'm thinking I can go back to using the regular trails when I want. I went early since there are supposed to be thunderstorms again this afternoon - yesterday's were pretty intense. It wasn't very hot yet and the loop is almost all shaded, but pretty humid.
