DP = Dad Peloton, that's what the "kids" at Bikes Plus called it when I asked for logistics. Actually, they called it the "Dad Ride", similar to calling the Tue morning group the "Old Man Ride." In both cases, it's plenty fast enough for me.

The DP as I'm going to call it starts from W. Lauther up on Mockingbird at 0600. Lucky for me this was actually sleeping in compared to the last few days. Unlucky for me was that the "kids" had told me the wrong meeting place. Once I figured that out I rode the other way around the lake to meet up. Coming around Winfrey Point I saw a peloton's worth of headlights coming at me. I turned, stayed to the side, picked up speed, and then jumped on the back of a line of about 30 guys.

Overall we were riding about 5% slower than the OMP has been the last few times I made it out. This allowed me to stick with the group the whole time. Indeed, I was even up front rotating through the leading pace lines and taking my turn pulling at the front.

The DP does an extra little hill on Shook inserted between Loving and West Shore. I hold my own on the shorter hills but I always loose a few places going up West Shore. However, the DP didn't t blast away at the top like the OMP so I never lost contact.

On the second lap during a slow spot one guy came up and said, "You're riding strong. You've improved a lot over the last couple months." I'm not sure if that's true -- today was just a touch slower and more manageable for me. Nevertheless, that was very nice of him to say.
