Craftsbury, VT

When we left Dallas it was 23F and when we arrived in Boston is was 56F. Rained on our trip north to Lyndonville, where we are staying at the Collonade Inn, which is a very non-fancy but certainly will do motor inn type hotel. Overnight the rain turned to ice and it took a little while to clear the car windows. The nornally 45 min trip took an extra 40 min due to somewhat hazardous road conditions but luckily I keep my winter driving skills honed sharp in TX.

The snowing eased up quite a bit and it was a toasty 13F by the time we got on our skis at 1100. Zing! Wonderful conditions! The snow was easy to ski on and relative to the dry CO snow we are used to very fast. As Lisa said, the snow was "cooperative." The fact that we weren't at 9k feet and gasping for air was helpful too.

Very nice trails -- some through the woods and some along he edges of fields. Between about 6k and 10k the trail hadn't been freshly groomed but there was only about 2 in of easy so on top and it was fun skiing. The downhill trip back was great. Finished up at 90 min as agreed with Lisa but could have easily stayed out longer.

Nice lunch at the Nordic Center and then back out at 1430. Sunny skies with scattered clouds and 9F. Snow still good and another great outing.

We ate at Pizza Man in Lyndonville, which was good but not as good as Elevation Pizza in Fraser, CO.

Even with these temps my only change from usual was wearing a buff. Used my med-weight gloves (Swix). I still finished sweaty.

Things to work on:
Weight on the front of the foot.
Lift my knees and feet.
Get low on the climbs

Spent a lot of time skiing no poles. I have a feeling that I'm not the picture of elegance.

Now watching Steve McQueen in Bullet.
