| Orienteering 23:00 [3] | ||
| Google Earth O at LHN. Put lots of circles on the map but didn't connect them with lines and ran them in numerical order. It made it a little more challenging to have to search for the next number. Tried to force myself to read along instead of just running to the spot. First I did it as a long "interval"
session with higher intensity and took 9 min. Then I ran the course backwards and alternated hard control, easy control; took 11 min. Hopefully, this sort of exercise is better than nothing. Maybe I shouldn't color it orange -- more of a peach color.
| Run 23:00 [3] | ||
| There and back. | ||

| Run 30:00 [3] | ||
| Boathouse is flooded so no rowing. It's pouring and the streets are slick so no biking. And there a lightning bolts and thunder all around. So no running outside. Forced to run on TM with map. And it gets worse! Lightning knocked out the satellite feed so no TV! | ||
| Erg 30:00 [3] | ||
| Never thought I'd be on the erg this time of year. About 7000m. Did 5x(1min hard + 1 min easy) at sub 1:50 pace. | ||
Tuesday Jun 26 | ||
| Run long 1:30:00 [3] | ||
| ahr:130 | ||
| Slog around WRL. HR is about average but speed was very slow. I sure hope that Suomiland and Svierge are cool and that my legs wake up.
ps: It's pouring outside! Again! Never seen anything like this summer before.

| Run 50:00 [3] | ||

| Bike 2:20:00 [3] | ||
| Needed sleep which meant I wouldn't be up early enough to go for a long run. Left home at 9am for a ride. Decided to investigate the mysterious bike trail that passes under the high five. Weaving through a neighborhood I'd never been in before I found the southern continuation and followed it north until it deaded ended in a shrubbery. Back south to forest, over to the WR Creek trail, north to the other side of 635, and started investigating more mysterious neighborhoods to find the north end. Found it behind a less than desirable apt. building just as it went under 635 but it was fenced off. Mystery no longer.
Back south along WR Creek. A number of soccer games going on. A tree bombed me in the face with a nut. Signs of recent flooding with a couple inches of water still flowing over the low point on the trail; I hate having to ride through water. Ran over 8 tadpoles. Had a gu at Mockingbird and rode around the lake. Got yelled at by a policeman for coasting through a 4 way stop - jeesh, no one was around and I had slowed to let him through. Still, I guess I shouldn't have done it with him right there. Very hungry when I got home. Had some Endurox, showered, went to Chipotle for a burrito, got a call from my dad remindiing me the US trials in Track were on the tube, zipped home and here I am watching track. Missed the steeple -- bummer.
| Run 30:00 [3] | ||
| On TM w/ Forssa Games map from 2004. I'm tired of running on maps without the real terrain underfoot. | ||
| C • Maybe you should map your trea... 1 | ||
| Lift (Dumbbells) 30:00 [3] | ||
Saturday Jun 23 | ||
| Row 45:00 [3] | ||
| Gentle and easy last row in m Hudson 1X. Sold boat today. New boat should have been here a month ago but the Italian boat makers are slacking off, drinking wine with lunch, and taking long afternoon naps. I'm waiting for a Filippi (Swede not included). | ||
| Run 30:00 [3] | ||
| NTOA Grill-O: Easy fun O course followed by grilling and swimming at Mary Lynn and Mike's place.
The O was held on my first "map": Bethany Lakes Park. More of a sketch at this point. I set the courses on a satellite image and was going to use the image for the event. But on Thursday I decided to sit down and see how much I could draw. I had some helpful hints from ebuckley on how to get the scale adjusted and after about 3 hrs of work, the above is what I had. I traced the satellite photo in ocad and added details from memory. There are lots of things missing and lots wrong; kind of a backwards process, setting courses then mapping. But the result was sufficient for the Grill-O. Lots of action at the park. There was some big ham radio thing-a-ma-bob going on. And the round building in the center of the map has a sunken outdoor amphitheater (area northeast of controls 6 & 11). Turned out that Carly Patterson (gold medal gymnast) was having a concert right there in the middle of our O course. Luckily the concert was a little later. But she was out singing and doing sound checks as I picked up bags. Between her and Peter, we had two gold medalists in the park. Busy day. I'm beat. Time for bed.
