Bike 1:24:00 [3]

Two laps of the lake. Other than the usual bumps and bruises of orienteering, I feel pretty fresh.

Orienteering 1:20:00 [3]

Red. 8km = 72:09

Neither iphone sounded the alarm and our ear plugs prevented us from hearing our watches. We woke up at 0900 and had starts at 0930. Oops.

Thought I started in the right frame of mind but sill did a 90 and then 180 on the way to control 1 -- 6min lost. Well, time to see if I could run today. I pressed and ran hard the whole way except for the leg 3-4; my calf started grabbing and I thought I might be in trouble but it eventually eased and I could continue to press. Unfortunately, I made a handful of errors mostly due to drifting off line. My concentration was there and I was going through the correct mental steps; I am just rusty and was missing and drifting. However, it will be interesting to check splits on the legs I did ok on and see what my speed was like. Hopefully, over the next month I can tighten things up. Running that hard and only averaging 9min/km is a little annoying.

Took 2 hard barbwire caused falls. I swear I am a magnet for the stuff. It has kind of left me in a sour mood.

Birkhead Wilderness Classic Champs (BOK)
Red, 8.1km 245m climb = 76:15
Perfect day for running in the woods. Nice forest but not quite as nice as the model. I was a little hesitant both running, due to calf, and navigating. My calf behaved without any issues so hopefully I can run a little harder tomorrow. Nav wise I was felt defensive. I think part of this was due to the 1:15 scale, but also things felt distorted. Things I expected to be small, would be big and vice versa, when I expect to be here, I was a bit over there, and so I was just a bit off all the time. While there was a lot of hesitations and some pauses, I never really had any errors, just made steady progress. Overall, I enjoyed the day quite a bit. Tomorrow I hope to be able to push my my legs and my brain a bit harder.

BOK model course. Nice day, nice woods, nice to be out. Body parts behaving.

Row Circuits (2X) 1:10:00 [3]

Dropped the weights just a bit because I haven't done these in a while. Also, I wanted to protect my left butt from overwork. Good workout regardless. Definitely tired after. The 1 min pieces on the erg tend to hit me hard. Part of what makes these challenging is a warm gym with little air movement, which makes it tough to do serious aerobic work -- I get light headed sometimes.

Run 40:00 [3]

Butt stretch breaks on the 5s kept things in check.

Row 1:15:00 [3]

Windy morning but I enjoyed being out anyway. Steady-state.

Bike 50:00 [3]

Very windy evening. Slow heading south, double ZING heading back north. Ate lots of bugs.

Note

I do believe my calf issues are related to piriformus/sciatic issues. Must stretch butt.
