Run 51:00 [3]

Ugh. Seg.

Row 1:30:00 [3]

5th of 16 in C-D 1x. Pretty annoyed by it but c'est la vie.

Borrowed a hwt Fluid from Bob because WRB stuff was so crazy this week I didn't want to mess with packing up my boat. This cost me a bit of time. Being in a non-optimal ride is always going to cost some seconds. However, the starboard seat stretcher bolt started coming loose. I could see it take a little turn on every stroke. Had to pause at 1k to go to tighten it up and I should have taken the time to really cinch it down. It start slipping again and I figured it would be bad to come undone in the last 300m of sprint so I had to pause and tighten it again.

Cool, gray but dry today. However, windy. The row to the start was a headwind slog. Also, I always seem to underdress and take off my cloths too soon leaving me a little stiff at the start. I put in a good effort and my concentration was good. The row back on the south shore was in calmer water so no real complaints about that.

I think I spend too much time turning around. I prevents getting in long stretches of solid strokes. I really should learn how to use a mirror.

I got passed by steve king from FL but he owed me time so I beat him in the results. I almost got passed by Dietmar from Nashville but I out sprinted him at the end. Once we got out of the boat I could see he was a 6'7" giant; turns out he is a former Olympic gold medalist from Austria. He beat me on raw time but at least I held him off at the end.

My last complaint is that I spent the whole day yesterday outside walking around in the rain helping out with the juniors and masters. That is not ideal prerace prep.

Season wise nothing to speak of per se. However, I wasn't that far off the top guys even though circumstances have led to non-ideal training. Thus, in the fantasy rowing league in my head, I beat them all.

I'm logging my pre and post race jogging time as rowing because I don't feel like putting in another entry.

Row 1:15:00 [3]

Head of the Hooch in Chattanooga.

AARC 4x with 1) Mark 2) Bob 3) me 4) Jim
Ended up 4th. It's been two years since we last rowed together so all and all I think we did just fine. Had fun anyway. Gray and a drizzle but otherwise decent rowing conditions. Jim has just a little bit of acceleration into the catch that too me a while to get used to; I had to really concentrate to try to match it.
