Row 31:04 [3] 5.17 km (6:01 / km)

Met Jim Dietz at the UMass trailer at 0930 and got the boat ready (midwt Fluid). I tried putting on more tacky grips but they weren't going on easy and I didn't want to force it. So, I'm stuck with the green grips. Later I went to Home Depot to get some sandpaper; I'll roughen them up tomorrow.

Dodged the traffic on the way to the basin. Got passed by Mahe Drysdale and Olof Tufte rowing in a 2x. The coxswain of 8+ from Eaton (London) kept trying to run me over.

Very muggy so that 70F felt warm and I was sweating a bunch.

Row 26:06 [3] 5.11 km (5:06 / km) +6m 5:05 / km

Start to finish. Easy pace but good pressure. Put in P10s at the km marks.
* Pointy building next to tall shiny building is a good reference steering through BU bridge.
* Follow the blue buoys.
* Ease away a Riverside BH just holding a straight line through Western Ave and River Str.
* Start turning under Weeks. Takes 8 strokes.
* 5 strokes out of Harvard street. Let the buoys come to me. No rush.
* Around the bend, 1, 2, 3, steer, 1, 2, 3 steer... until approaching Cambridge then more steering.
* LIne up on the concrete thing through Elliot and by Windsor.
* Loosely hug the trees but not too close.
* Stay straight as the shore pulls back to Greenough Blvd.
* 20 strokes along the sidewalk.

Bike 1:05:00 [3]

Easy spin to warm up but not stress the system. Ran into Sam and his son David so turned around and did another 1/2 lap with them.

Row 55:00 [3]

3 x 1250 = 3 [ 250 at 24 + 250 at 26 + ... at 28... at 30... at 28]

Still windy but needed water time. South wind laps weren't too bad. Legs less sore but still not 100%.

I paused during the first piece to figure out why the heck Mr. Garmin wasn't tell me to change to the next segment. Turns out it was my fault because I mistakenly programmed the pieces for 250k instead of 250m. After that I just counted 30 strokes for each segment -- close enough.

Erg 50:00 [3]
shoes: RP3

2 x 20 = 2 [ 8 (2 at 20 + 30 at 26) ] / 2
Windy so on the erg. Passed the time visualizing Sat race plan. Legs lacking and still sore. Nose still dripping.

Row 1:10:00 [3]

South wind laps of some sort of steady state workout that I can't remember. Not a lot of push in my legs.

Lift (CoachK-24) 33:00 [3]

At the Y. 3 of 5 rounds (tapering). Did all 2 x 15 get-ups in one go; have to acknowledge even the small victories.

Orienteering 1:20:00 [3]

NTOA event at Gateway Park in FW.

Sheila set a decent course and got us over to the interesting terrain across the Trinity River. There are some Mt Bike trails through there now. Normally, I am not a fan of the latter but in this case they gave some needed reference points and, more importantly, routes through the vegetation.

I did not not not like the humidity. That combined with not starting until almost 11 meant I was completely soaked in sweat, head to toe. My brain started going to much at about the hour mark and I made a big error. End result was that I was out too long and a bit dehydrated. Now my legs are sore.
