Run 39:00 [3]

Run on a nice trail off of Rt 86. Mud, rocks and forest.

Pretty pooped later in the day. Legs are still wiggly from yesterday. 6 hours in the car doesn't help though.

PT 1 [3]

Tired but forced myself to do it while watching the TdF in the hotel room.

Bike 2:16:42 [3] 60.66 km (26.6 kph) +715m
ahr:130 max:159

From Planet Placid Bicycles in Lake Placid. Had an aluminum Cannondale Synapse of some sort. Bike was fine enough but the headset (I think) was making some awful popcorn sounding popping noises throughout. Also the cable activated disk brakes had an annoying path from out of the frame to the rear brake such that my left heal continually tapped it. Both things were annoying.

First part was with Lisa through town and around Mirror Lake. At Rt 86 we split. The second part along 86 was a beautiful stretch of road along a branch of the Ausable River eventually riding by White Face Mt. The third part was along Fox Farm Rd and then Springfield Rd, both very wooded, nice riding, and a lot of downhill. The next part on 9N was a slow climb to Keene along the main part of the Ausable River.

Turning onto 73 it was time to pay the price for the down. Up to this point it was an enjoyable ride. 73 had a bit more traffic and the temps had warmed. Strava lists the main part of the climb, named "New York 73 climb" as 6.3 km, having an average grade of 5%, and rating a Cat 2 climb. It took me about 25min and ranks 274/754. However, it's really about 10k of up from Keene and then a bunch of rollers along Cascade lakes. The Cascade Lakes were really nice.

Once off he top I just started pushing a bit to get back because I was late. It is always fun to go fast and there is no complaining about the views, but it was work. Good think I like to work.

Overall, an HC (Beyond Category) due to such wonderful scenery. I'd gladly due that ride again.

We visited the Olympic bobsled, luge and skeleton tracks. We took a bus up to different start houses. We even got to run down the track from the bobsled start to the lower women's luge start. Really interesting and fun.

Bike 2:06:07 [3] 53.12 km (25.3 kph) +26m
ahr:109 max:134

Rented a Trek Emonda SL6 from Tow Path Cycles in Pittsford. I was a little more stretched out the normal but still comfortable. The junction area fo the seat stays, seat tube and top tube are very wide and rubbed my leg when extended. That became annoying enough that I don't think this frame would be a good choice for me. But a good bike just the same.

Lisa and I started riding about 1120 heading east. We stayed together for 15 min before splitting. There are some sections of asphalt but it is mostly cinder; very rideable though. Once east of Fairport there was mostly farms or forest along the trail. Very scenic. Perfect day with temp in the 70s and a "Simpson's" sky. Turned around just short of Palmyra. There was a bit of a headwind on the way back so between that and the cinders my effort level was a little high for the pace.

Took a break at lock 30 to watch the water go down and up and the gates open and close for a small boat heading west. Very cool.

All and all, super duper ride and quite possibly the flattest 50k possible other than the Utah salt flats. Mom and Dad met us at the bike shop and we then had a late lunch at Alladin's along the canal.

Run 1:04:40 [3] 8.52 km (7:36 / km) +112m 7:07 / km

In Webster. Love running these trails. Not fast and was am still a little sore from Friday's burpees. On the trip from DFW -> ROC I read a short article about Diana Niad, where it said she as a workout consisting of 1000 burpees that takes 2.5 hours. That is both insanely impressive and insanely insane.

Other 8 [3]

Short HIIT workout which was more of a Moderate-intensity-IT workout. I just wanted to go through the motions a bit.
