Note

I am supposed to be heading to airport right now and racing at The Hooch tomorrow. Alas, I'm down for the count. I was hoping I simply had a 24 hour really sucky bug. However, I have a fever as well, which is really very rare for me. Also rare is for me to make a smart decision and say enough is enough. Well, I said it. Back to bed.

Row 1:00:00 [3]

Nice morning. Kind of cool and slightly foggy -- cool vibe. Fixed the left shoe after the row.

Row 1:00:00 [3]

Nice morning. Left shoe is out of alignment and the left track is slipping.

Row 40:00 [3]

Rerig old boat. Measure everything to transfer to new boat. Set rigger. Install new shoes. Set stretcher position. Set shoe height. Set tracks. Spend a long time trying to set the two axis oar lock bolt thing. Set the spread. Recheck the pitch. Go to lunch. Back to boathouse to wash boats with masters. Redo pitch and spread properly this time by properly leveling the boat. Go for a row. Back to the dock and move the tracks. Row for longer. Back home for more tools. Reset the shoes so that they hopefully won't squeak. Retie heal ties. Secure the rigger bolts. Pull out aluminum skeg and install the fancy carbon high-aspect ration skeg. Total time: 8:30 am to 5:30 pm.

Tight competition this year. Without getting into details, work + boathouse BS, has me a little distracted with some physical ramifications. Suffice to say, I'm not at 100%. Thus, even though I'm not really thrill with my result I'm trying to remind myself that, (1) I'm not quite 100%, (2) competing as an adult means that's going to happen sometimes, (3) the important thing is to do the best I can on any given day given the cards I'm dealt. Given all that, I can be satisfied with a hard fought race. I didn't feel good emotionally or physically but I kept at it and wasn't that far off the pack.

Mens open 2x ith Pat
We won in 15:07. Scary race traffic wise. ARC cut back on some buoys that separate racers from those heading to the start. We had 3 boats on our starboard side heading the other way while we ere at full race speed. Even knocked oars with one. Very lucky there wasn't serious injury or damage. That's all I have to say about that.

Went to Stiles Swich BBQ afterward. Awesome! Then stopped at Health Camp in Waco for a shake. Took 30 stupid minutes because of studid UT and Baylor fans crowding the place post the stupid football game that finished up about an hour before I got there.
