Row 58:00 [3]

Slept in and rowed in the evening. Felt pretty solid. Big change from last night and that makes me happy. Sleep and fluids are helpful training aids.

Briefly chatted with a guy in a C-Scow. He said he just got it. He had the main only hoisted half way and was testing things out. Such a cool boat!

There were 10 Lasers out racing. I wish I could retire and get back into racing sailboats. I would be an excellent retired person!

The seagulls were checking me out a lot this evening. They would swoop in and almost hover overhead for a while before pealing off. I'm not sure what they were thinking -- maybe I look like a shrimp boat.

Run 42:00 [3]

Ugh. Felt like crap. At 30min I told Karl today wasn't happening. Felt deflated the rest of the evening.

Bike 1:21:00 [3]

Flat and mostly spinning, except when I wanted to go fast because tail winds are fun. My new helmet was more airy today though that may have in part been due to a hair cut and a 30mph N wind.

Row 1:11:00 [3]

Thunderstorms last night left behind dead calm water and cool temps. Yippee. Move the rigger back one spot and drop the oar gates back down (again) and I think I'm finally zeroing in on optimal. Went 6 times through the following sequence for a total of 6 x P15: Tap drill, backing drill, build to P15. Pretty much my first hard strokes since getting back in the boat. Tired from yesterday but there were some good strokes.

Bike 3:23:43 [3] 93.9 km (27.7 kph) +461m
ahr:128 max:161

Got going at 6:50 when the temp was in the low 50s. Made it out to Lake Ray Hubbard about 5 min late to see the sunrise. By then my hands had become pretty cold and stiff and didn't really warm up until about 90min in. Nice though. I like going through the low spots and feeling the localized cold air that sinks to the bottoms. All the creeks and ponds and places that hold water were very full. I was tired at 2 hours but kept cranking along. Stomped on it a bit returning along I35 (obvious from my HR data). I don't know why I did that; it was unnecessary and just drained me. Finished off with an unnecessary easy lap of the lake, which was very busy. It was such a nice morning that as tired as I was I wanted to just stay out longer. It would have been nice to come home for food and a nap but we had some errands to do. By the time 4pm hit I kind of crashed.

I have a new Giro Synth w/ MIPS helmet. Fits my head better than my Catlike but I it seems like there is a bit less airflow. Probably the price to be paid for being more aero. When it gets hot out I will see if this was a good tradeoff for me.

Row 1:30:00 [3]

Stiff wind but it was from the west, which is rare, and I could do laps from Garland to the boat ramp right up against shore. I couldn't get myself out of bed in the morning and by the time I got out at 4:30 it was a stupid 83ish degrees. Between low qual sleep and the heat my HR was high and my alarm kept telling me to slow down.
