BP loops. 6 loops. The ride over to the bath house was pretty chill. "Up and around" segments were all in the 5:40-5:50 range. It seemed like almost every lap we had a car or bike to slow down for a little bit. I didn't mind though as I was working hard. I could hang with the group but I had no extra umph. I was forced to close one gap after climbing Bath House hill but I couldn't have done that a second time. Coming back on W. Lawther we had to slow for a bit due to a car. When that cleared what remained of the group accelerated hard in prep for the final sprint. I hung on for about 200m and then pulled out. As I said, I didn't have high end power in my legs. It could have been the heat, the fact that I'm still recovering from a cold, the other guys are just plain stronger, or all of the above. In any case, it was a hard ride and I sort of had fun. It would be nice if someday I had the legs to be there at the very end.

Sculling class with Josh. I missed the first week due to vacation and the second week due to being sick. I enjoyed the class. From a theoretical point of view, I didn't learn anything I didn't know. However, it was good to spend time being intentional about certain things and certain drills. Class runs from 0545 to 0715; I figure I got in about 45 min of good rowing.

OMP. Got a full night sleep without a coughing fit, so it seemed appropriate to go flog myself. First I had to change a surprise flat in the rear tire; I've been above average in flats this year. I was hanging on ok and even had a segment PR on W Lauther. As we approached the first gate before the bathhouse the peloton was passing a slower dude. Alas, the guy pinched me out and I had to slow almost to a stop; not his fault, he had just as much right to pass through as me. However, I was now gapped and I didn't have the legs to close it down. A little while later I hooked up with another two guys for a bit more work on the hills and then an easier lap on my own. All and all, about as much as I could probably expect.

Ups and downs and on the flats I simulated ups by riding in a low gear, with low cadence and high load. Thankfully, it was cloudy this morning.
