Note

Supposed to be -12C - -6C. Put a layer of Rex 21 on first, brushed, then a layer of Rex 41. Figured the cold snow would hit the ski first and the Rex 41 would wear as the day warms to Rex21 temps. Have no clue if this is sensible or not.

Lift (EDIGD) 35:00 [3]

Power 1C. Slightly abridged and not pushing the weight. Tapering a bit for the weekend.

Easy but lots of balance and technique stuff. Kind of fun. Gray, cool and windy, with more on the way. Dallas is in a frenzy because of tomorrow's predicted There-might-be-sleet-and-be-less-than-40F-MAGADDON 2020.

3 (5k / 7min) +
2 (Fisher Rd hill sprints)
HR limited to 155 max

rep) pace
1) 3:21.6
2) 3:20.2
3) 3:25.0

I've never done 3 of these before and I don't think I've ever had 2 as fast as these (on the pursuits anyway). That I still followed them up with 2 sprints up Fischer is a bonus. No doubt I'm happy with today's work.

Really nice morning. 44F at the start and probably into the 60s already by the time I was done. No wind.

I kept mostly to V2-alt on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th km, and straight V2 on 2 and 4. My goal was to see if I could see a speed difference. Alas, my watch was not set to take splits every km. However, from the plots of speed vs. time it generally looks like I was faster on V2-alt. I'm not surprised. I could probably sprint for a short distance in V2 at a faster speed. However, I'm more stable during V2-alt and I get stronger pushes with my arms. Also, I periodically have little wobbles in V2 that cause a brief pause as I adjust my stride or catch my balance. So, it makes sense and I still have much work to do. Good information though.

Out the SoPac trail no poles. Given that it felt slightly uphill all the way out, I was slightly dismayed that if felt slightly uphill all the way back. I was back at the lake at 60min and so went up to NW Hwy and back. Lots of weaving in and out of the slower half-marathoners who were heading back to Norbuk.

Felt a bit draggy coming back. It was a little more work doing no-poles for an hour than I had thought. In hindsight, I was a little dehydrated as well. Found I had to drink a lot in the afternoon.
