Orienteering 1:00:00 [3]

O fest relay. Made to many mistakes and was going too slow. Seemed to have less confidence in my compass today.

Orienteering 1:40:00 [3]

So plan was to run first section of the chasing start and then drop out after 20-30 mins. 80 mins later, 3rd place, whoops. Stayed in the pack to start, on a bearing and picking up what I could. Pace was insane on the first few. Then started to thin out and took my own route to the 6th and arrived with 3 others. Yngve got a slight lead on me and Hakon, who were 2nd and 3rd, in the butterfly and never saw him again. From then I was quite defensive and stayed very close to Hakon. He lost me coming out to the 17th and I caught sight of him on the road but couldn't catch him. Almost caught him a couple of times after the spectator but in the end just took my time in and he racked up a minute lead on the last few. Really fun race. Not too much navigating going on but felt good physically. Yngve won by a long way.

Orienteering 35:00 [3]

O fest sprint race. Basically a short middle on sprint map. 44secs down, lost 40secs on an overshoot in the first bit. Running well apart from that.

Orienteering 1:30:00 [3]

Orienteering 45:00 [3]

Taking it easy on a sprint map. Not feeling too good.

Monday Jun 20, 2011 #

Sore throat so resting. Not surprising considering the amount of sleep I had over the last few days.

Sunday Jun 19, 2011 #

Orienteering 1:10:00 [3]

Jukola 5th leg. Drafted into the first team as Gaute was ill and needed to rest up for world cup.

Didn't really sleep beforehand apart from one hour at about 7 oclock the night before but i had been lying down being lazy (unusual I know) for most of the day so I didn't feel it would affect me. I felt ok before the start but as soon as i started pushing i felt quite tired in my head. Physically I was ok but was thinking more about feeling tired than navigation. Lost alot to number two taking a stupid route and getting lost. Apart from that most of my mistakes were small and didn't loose too much time. Disappointed by my run but it was a safe performance for the team.

Team was 43rd. At our highest we were 27th. Good performance by the team I think. Lots more to come.

Orienteering 1:15:00 [3]

Macclesfield sprint races.

First in City was pretty easy, bits of route choice which I was mostly good on, cobbles were very slow and I managed to bash my knee which made me a bit more cautious. Navigating well.

Second in housing estate was very easy, basically a cross country course. Ran hard, felt good although had no grip on the grass.

Orienteering 1:50:00 [3]

Macclesfield forest, stuck to the nice parts thankfully. Two downhill relay sims, ran away on the first and finished in group for the second. Orienteering a bit better.

Then middle race, walked alot of the steep steep hills but was navigating well, two mistakes one where the bushes were dodgy and all the guys lost a minute and one near the end where it seemed alot higher than I would have thought. Running reasonably well.

Orienteering 1:10:00 [3]

In Cannock, running alright on most but making massive mistakes on the rest. Over 50 mins of Orienteering I lost at least 9 mins of mistakes. First time on a forest map in ages though.

Running 50:00 [3]

Can't remember the total time but run back over the roaches with the boys. Lots of stopping to play on big rocks, one fun descent, nice pace.

Running 25:00 [3]

Wednesday Jun 8, 2011 #

Running 40:00 [3]

Monday Jun 6, 2011 #

Running 1:20:00 [3]

I had two things to do today, rest and finish the harvester map. What with the harvester map being quite far away I couldn't do both of them.

Jogged out to Limb Valley finished the map and then jogged home. I thought my legs felt bad yesterday, today I was crawling.

Rest tommorow :)

Orienteering 1:05:00 [3]

Nottingham city race, felt shit the whole way but pushed hard and can't have been going that slow. Legs feel heavy now.

Biggest mistakes were, getting stuck in a dead end that was mapped as a throughway between 3 and 4 and faffing about for a bit. Thinking that 16 was the other side of the fence and so going right. Ran past a few roads and doubled back, and a few route choices I'm not sure of.
