JWOC relay.

First leg, first team.

Really good leg. Missed my first control but after that was catching people and felt strong. Made very few mistakes. Finished 2 mins down so did the job I set out to do and handed to ralph not too far off leaders. Unfortunatly Rals ankle went again so lost alot of time and ended up being beaten by the 2nd team.

Orienteering race 45:00 [5] 5.0 km (9:00 / km)

Middle final.

Finally a race I was pleased with. Ran the majority really cleanly and smoothly with just on mistake of 30secs, by misreading the map and thinking I was a control further than I was but even then when I ran back to the control I was meant to be going to I spiked it. Really nice to get a good race in, especially considering I had the very first start of the day.

63rd (3rd in B final) 25.18.

Orienteering race 55:00 [5] 7.0 mi (7:51 / mi)

JWOC Middle Qually.

Good race with one big mistake.

40th. 34 something. 2 30 off A final.

1. Slight miss, one clearing over. (30secs)
2.3. Clean and smooth.
4. Really good first section for leg but made a mssive parallel and went up a ride that was way too early, then had to fight my way up the hill and along by the crags losing alot of time. (3mins 30secs)
to finish. Had a slight miss at 5 but apart from that I was clean and travelling well which is annoying.

Tuesday Jul 7, 2009 #

Orienteering race 2:10:00 [4] 14.0 km (9:17 / km) +500m 7:53 / km

JWOC long (20 warm up/5 down)

1.44 something. 40 mins down. 89th place.

1. Hit control cleanly catching my 2 min and 4 min man.
2. Clean again but took route below crags which was maybe 15 secs slower.
3. Slight miss but less than 20secs lost.
4. Slow down hill and a little unsure in all the rock detail. Got led in by ruari.
5. Slight miss.
6. Clean
7. A bit slow and hesitant but hit control perfectly so tactis payed off.
8. Missed control by maybe 30m and then had no idea. veered along hill a bit before relocating on stream and returning to same place as before, not spotting control again. Found it after a while. (3mins)
9. Least said about this the better. A bit slow and hesitant again for this lag but then stopped one stream too early and made the mother of all parallel errors. (13mins)
10. Followed Lauri Sild to this, he was flying and I had very little energy or motivation for this.
11.12.13.14. First loop of butterfly. Good but a bit slow and hesitant again. Needed to find a rhythm again.
15. Veered down the hill with a couple of people I'd caught. Then had the long climb back up. (3mins)
16.to finish. Found a bit of a rhythm towards the end and was catching people but had been messing about for so long that I was very tired and not moving very fast atall. Some very good controls in the last section though.

Monday Jul 6, 2009 #

Orienteering race 40:00 [5] 8.0 km (5:00 / km)

JWOC sprint. (20 mins warm up/5 down)

25th, 16.11, about 80 seconds down.

1. Started off well. Hit first control with no problems.
2. Missed the entrance I was looking for and had to backtrack to it. (10secs)
3.4. Good. Smooth through town.
5. Running fast and should have taken first gap through the feilds. (5secs)
6. Easy control.
7.8.9.10.11. Really good control through the town section.
12. Running a bit fast and got confused in the buildings stopping way to early and then backtracking a bit before realising. (15secs)
13. Good but no plan for long leg after.
14. Took bottom route as it was the first I saw. Top route is a bit faster. Also went up the wrong road about halfway along and had to backtrack again. (10secs)
15.16.17. Good, went back same way for 17.
18. Stopped way too early for my entrance and hesitated. (5secs)
19.20.21.22.23.24. Run into finish, felt like I had no go in my legs for this bit.

In all an Ok race but not entirely happy with it.

Orienteering 40:00 [3] 5.0 km (8:00 / km)

Relay training with the New Zealanders.

First leg. Really tough up the hill to start and then just cruising round back to the start beating ralph in a sprint finish.

Orienteering 1:05:00 [3] 7.0 km (9:17 / km)

Out in italy.

A sprint course. Went good, was a little hesitant in the little towns bits. Nice to run after the two days of travelling.

In the afternoon did a sprint line course.
