Time to get back to some consistency but nice to have a bit of a break post WOC. The first few weeks after WOC I only put on ~1kg despite eating whatever I wanted. The week in Australia with its morning and afternoon tea and cake breaks and too much beer has added another 3kg. No doughnuts for breakfast for a few weeks - It doesn't matter what I weigh at the moment but I'd rather not have 5kg to lose when it comes to XC season.

Maddy Moss Hill Race.
Tucked in behind GG until about a third of the way up the law. He was seeing a good pace and we pulled out a gap on the others pretty quickly. From there I just focused on keeping my own rhythm and slowly got a gap. I looked back a couple of times but couldn't decide whether the gap was growing or shrinking! I pushed the runnable climb between the law and Ben Cleuch because I didn't want to give GG the chance to close the gap.

Once I got to the top my legs were knackered but the thought of GG bearing down on me got them moving on the descent. From here to the finish I was running scared, my legs feeling like they were going to stop working at any moment but luckily they didn't and I made it to the finish with a good gap. Course record for the newer course and very close to the old one on the slightly faster old course.

Love the Ochils for hill races and it was great to see so many people make the trip - shame I couldn't stay for food but that would have meant a very late night..

Strava interest:
I was around 20 seconds slower than 2015 GG to the top of Ben Cleuch (50 seconds up at finish).
I was 20 seconds slower than Jonny over the last 350m. That boy can descend!

WOC 2017 sprint relay.

Worked hard the last few weeks to be on the start line but I felt pretty good when it came down to it. Cat and Ralph had done a great job and I was sent out in 2nd just a couple of seconds behind and in the pack. Things went well and I was running strong up until the last couple of controls in the slope. I knew that these would be important but the constant up and down steep banks had taken its toll and I wasn't thinking clearly. I was led off line by Jonas going to the shorter forking and Martin also missing and I ran onto the wrong hill losing a lot of time. I pushed as hard as I could to the finish but couldn't make any inroads into the pack that had caught me. Gutted, but after the last month I guess I'm not too surprised that I struggled at the end after the past month. It is no consolation that I wasn't the only one to go walkabouts in this section.
