Sunday Nov 4

Orienteering race (DEE Delamere Forest) 1:35:24 [4]*** 10.2 km (9:21 / km) +165m 8:39 / km
shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw 330 O
Went from control 11 to 17 (stupid).
Two big dog legs, nasty brambles, and a evil smelly bog. Oh, I also mispunched #18.
Orienteering (Controlling) 1:30:00 [1]5.6 km (16:04 / km)
Checking the control sites for the Night Piethorne event. All tags are in the right place, but some of the mapping is suspect.

Saturday Nov 3

Trail Race race (Ullswater Steamy Surprise) 1:00:33 [5]12.9 km (4:42 / km) +510m 3:55 / km
I really must learn to keep my word. I wasn't going to race, but when I eyed up the competition I thought there was a chance of a top 3 position. So I found myself at the front of the start line, when two runners #1 and #2 effortless jogged to the start. But it was too later to move back from the start.
Within 1km, #1 and #2 disappeared. I was just behind the third runner. By 2km my throat was burning (from my cold) and on the climbs my legs were wobbly, but I was maintaining my 4th position.
Just before the final (and the largest and the steepest) climb at 8km, a Clayton le Moors Harrier was closing the gap. Half way up the hill, I wanted to stop, but the b***er ordered me not to give up. At the top I nearly collapsed. But it was now downhill to the finish. I managed to push on, finishing 4th. Thanks to the CLM runner for the encouragement!

A bit too fast. Left foot slightly uncomfortable on hard surfaces.
Running 41:00 [1]8.2 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel Trail Sensor WR
Weights 30:00 [1]

Wednesday Oct 31

Yoga 55:00 [1]
More impossible positions
Orienteering race 1:15:00 [4]* 16 km (4:41 / km)
shoes: Asics DS Trainers XII
A very scrappy run, wasted 3 mins when a got to a cross roads only to discover the other path was a bridge and I couldn't figure out to get on to the bridge. I was also foolishly tempted by an outlaying control.

But my biggest mistake was jumping over a 5ft wall and landing badly.

Tuesday Oct 30

Note
(sick) (rest day)
Feeling grotty, so decided to take it a rest day

Monday Oct 29

Weights 35:00 [1]
Running 40:00 [2]8.7 km (4:36 / km) +75m 4:24 / km
shoes: NB 1061 Orange
Slightly drained with weekends efforts and with a cold. So I tried not to push myself, but difficult to keep the pace down when running with Tom.
