Orienteering race 1:35:00 [5]***
I feel like a quitter! Second time I haven't finished the Mountain Marathon - first time I got lost, this time I was frightened. I don't enjoy very long races in general (get bored - and tired ) but this race just went wrong from the (near) start.

Struggled to find #3 (bad placing), stupidly went for the staight run through a huge vally with a huge climb. Then lost concentration on the way to #7 and veered of to the east of #15 (!). Ended up near the bottom of a very steep valley that was quite some distance from the correct one - worst was: I "corrected" myself when I started to deviate from my *wrong* route in the right direction. Massive mistake (10-15 minutes time wasted). From #10 to #11 I totally lost it and (from later discussion) joined Tanya in the upper reaches of a valley almost off the map. Again obliviously corrected my small mistakes to stick on the wrong route.

Finally realised my mistake and while frantically trying to reach the right valley I missed the edge of a grassy bank and went tumbling down it. Tumbling was a lot less dangerous when I was small ...

Mmm, can I include my control collecting as training time ... ?

Running 20:00 [3]
Various quick bits followed by long slow ones (I list an estimated training time). Was again out mapping - I'm starting to realise that we're probably "over-mapping". But the place is so chock full off features in some places and absolutely denuded of any distinguishing features in others. Lots of running to reach some areas.

Getting really tired of this - EVERY single Saturday and some Sundays as well - and then the 2-4 hours OCAD mapping spread over evenings. Still enjoying the frequent outings, just not the constant time issue.

Tuesday May 6

Calisthenics 1:30:00 [2]
Low intensity - good to see I can be sensible at some times.
