Saturday May 31

Running 45:00 [2]
shoes: Walsh pb trainer
Run up a hill next to Killin in the Trossachs. Beautiful sunny day spent sitting about next to loch lomond and paddling about in a canoe on loch Tay with Jess. Nice wee run to top the day off.

Friday May 30

Note
(sick) (rest day)
Too rough to move...

Thursday May 29

Running 54:00 [3] 10.7 km (5:03 / km) +400m 4:15 / km
shoes: Brooks adrenaline GTS7
Run round Braids and blackford with Doug. Felt pretty tired and got dropped by Doug a couple of times. Rubbish! Had a psychiatry viva exam late afternoon so run before was good to take my mind of that.

Wednesday May 28

Cycling intervals 30:00 [5]
shoes: Brooks adrenaline
Had an exam which was pretty hard so went to the gym to unleash some stress on the bikes. Did 15 90/30s with Doug. Was good, worked up a lot of sweat. Saw the doag in the gym too...he tells me he's on a training regime and is cutting down to 5 bottles of maddog a week. I'll believe it when I see it.
C • Trophy 2
core/balance gym work 25:00 [3]
shoes: Brooks adrenaline
Did a few core exercises. Doug has one leg bigger than the other, the muppet.
C • Don't offend Muppets! 1

Tuesday May 27

Note
(rest day)
Was going to go to the gym with the gunshow, but was revising for an exam and thought I should probably do that instead. As it turned out I did read a couple of things that came up. Bonus.
That coud be a lie and I was in fact just scared of looking feeble next to the 'show.

Monday May 26

swimming 40:00 [2]
Swimming with the boys. Feeling pretty tired so not too many lengths achieved.

Sunday May 25

Orienteering race 32:37 [5] 5.5 km (5:56 / km) +300m 4:40 / km
shoes: Walsh pb trainer
Scottish Champs relays. Set out in 4th by Ales. Caught and passed Marcus Konig 5mins in, and caught Jase near the end so set Hector out in 2nd with the task of holding off Ewan. He ran a staormer and actually closed on SYO a bit. I was happy with the run, no big mistakes and ran pretty strongly despite tired legs!
Running warm up/down 10:00 [1]
shoes: Walsh pb trainer

Saturday May 24

Orienteering race 1:27:51 [5] 10.8 km (8:08 / km) +550m 6:29 / km
ahr:164 max:175 shoes: Walsh pb trainer
Scottish Champs individual. Great setting looking onto scheihallion and down the valley stunning veiws and clear blue skies. Crackin course too, really tough, lots of variety. Was absolutely wrecked by the end! Pretty decent run, few small mistakes/crappy routes, but overall ok. Hadn't been feeling great in the morning, but decided I was arite and felt fine once i got out there. Pretty happy with result really, annoyed to miss third by 15s, but didn't expect to be that close anyway.
Running warm up/down 10:00 [1]
shoes: Walsh pb trainer
Note
Looking at the splits it appears I was in 2nd place at no. 21, only 21s down! Stamina is clearly lacking at the moment! but did expect that...

Friday May 23

Running warm up/down 29:00 [1] 5 km (5:48 / km)
shoes: Brooks adrenaline GTS7
Jog at night to try and loosen up the legs. Felt like far too much effor ttonight. Easy pace on the flat didn't feel easy and hr at 160. Hopefully not ill, just a bit stale...or really unfit. Either way, will give it a go tommorow and see what happens.

Thursday May 22

Cycling tempo 12:00 [5]
shoes: Brooks adrenaline
Spinning in the gym. legs a bit tired for some reason.
Cycling warm up/down 10:00 [1]
shoes: Brooks adrenaline
core/balance gym work 25:00 [3]
In the gym with CK. He was struggling with some nausea. 3 crazy polish guys were shadow boxing and doing exercises in a slightly manic way. Quite funny. Definately not laughing at them though...

Tuesday May 20

Running 45:00 [2] 7 km (6:26 / km) +400m 5:00 / km
ahr:151 max:172 shoes: Brooks adrenaline GTS7
Run from flat up onto Whinney Hill, looped about a bit and then to the top of the seat because it'd be rude not to and back home. Thought legs were ok after yesterdays effort but they were screwed! Just screwed in a tired/stiff way thgough, not in an itb way so that is good. Just took it steady and enjoyed it.
C • Sounds like you're back 1

Monday May 19

Running tempo 19:30 [5] 5.2 km (3:45 / km) +100m 3:25 / km

Saturday May 17

swimming 45:00 [3]
St Leanards with Jaffa. He did 100 lengths. I got there when he was on 48. So did about 60 something probably. Did 30 in a row then 3 100m efforts then hard out, slow back for a bit. Felt a bit knackered, but good to do something.

Monday May 12

Note
(rest day)
so combination of psychiatry clinical stuff all day, su meeting and essay + rest day for me. but probably not a bad thing. reaslisation that it's two weeks to my exams, theres a lot of revision still to be done, and i still have classes filling up most of the day means training may have to lose out a bit. rubbish. what can you do though.
C • Err... 1

Sunday May 11

Orienteering race 1:17:51 [4] 9.8 km (7:57 / km) +310m 6:52 / km
shoes: Walsh pb trainer
SOL 2 at Touch. Longest run I've done in a good few weeks, and certainly not easing it back in, more a make or break strategy. Luckily it made. Really good course, found it tough. Some stupid mistakes, no.1 was an awful start which kicked me up the ass and a few more after that. Didn't feel strong but didn't expect to, so pleasantly surprised with result. He's back in the game...
Running warm up/down 15:00 [1]

Saturday May 10

Orienteering 23:55 [3] 2 km (11:58 / km)
shoes: Walsh pb trainer
Short course at Abbey Craig pre scottish sprints. First orienteering in a good while, so very rusrty and hesitant and just took it easy. Leg felt ok which was good. Slowest minutes per km time in a looong time!
Orienteering race 21:01 [5] ****
shoes: Puma Trailfox
Scottish Sprint Champs in Stirling Old Town. I am a total muppet. Sat in the park revisiing for a while, then decided to wander along to assembly for my 16.52 start, munched a banana on the way. Approached registration tent to check start list at 15.45 to see actual start time 15.52. Oh...jobby. Que the quickest change ever. Run to start. Start. Crackin preperation there! On the upside, no time to worry about leg being sore! The race was good fun, very slippy most of the way thanks to the rain so tough to open out. 1 big mistakes on the long leg, hit the uncrossable wall, 1 1/2 mins chucked away there. Good points are, great course, enjoyed it a lot, orienteering wasn't shocking for the most part, leg not sore. Crackin.
Running 15:00 [1]

Thursday May 8

core/balance gym work 40:00 [3]
Ripped it up in the gym with CK and Jaffa. Had a sauna afterwards. Crackin.
C • CK... in the gym... NO WAY!!! 1

Wednesday May 7

Orienteering 40:15 [3] 6 km (6:42 / km)
shoes: Walsh pb trainer
ESOC event at Dreghorm barracks. Interesting course with some blank, corridor and score bits. Just went easy and felt ok, but itb didn't feel right. Getting some sore twinges and was going to jack it, but realised i was outside the massive barrackes fence and the course wasn't a whole lot further than going straight to the gate, so just finished it. Leg didn't feel that bad and didn't really get any worse. Will see how it is tommorow.
core/balance gym work 10:00 [2]

Tuesday May 6

Cycling 52:00 [3] 23 km (2:16 / km)
ahr:152 max:179 shoes: Shimano clip-on cycling shoes
First time out on the caad5 for ages. Fitted the speedo I got from Jess for christmas beforehand. 58km/h was the top speed. Crackin. Speed was changing a lot though, so it probably needs a bit of adjustment. 4 laps of the seat. Grand night, seat heaving with people. Crackin.

Monday May 5

Running 35:00 [2]
shoes: Brooks adrenaline GTS7
Run with Doug around the meadows and up the links and back. Crackin day, just awesome. Could get used to this. The meadows was quite scenic too:P Aware of ITB, but not sore.
swimming 45:00 [3]
Swimming with Jaffa and Phil. Phil is very fast. Was quite a fast pace early o in the medium lane today. Think it was faster than the fast lane next to it for a bit. It's pretty wild down the pool I tell thee. Did 20 lengths quite tempo and was pretty tired after that. Good craic.

Sunday May 4

Running 20:32 [2] 4 km (5:08 / km)
shoes: Brooks adrenaline GTS7
Run from the gym, a lap of hunters bog and back. Knee not sore, felt a bit weird, but hopefully it's fine. Felt well slow though! Think that may be called unfitness. Rubbish.
core/balance gym work 40:00 [3]

Saturday May 3

swimming 45:00 [3]
St Leanards again. With Jaffa. Did 4 warm up lengths. Then 50 lengths in a row. Felt ok at the end, think I could pysically do a few more, but mentally it's getting tough. Did 4 stes of two lengths fast and a couple easy to finish.
C • take the hit and go to the ... 1
core/balance gym work 30:00 [2]
Muscles a bit tired after swimming and gym yesterday but did some stuff and had a stretch. In the library in the afternoon. Was rubbish as usual but made worse by some knob of a commentator wooping all the time for some event in the meadows. What a sack of shite made to con joggers out of their money.
C • But... 3

Friday May 2

core/balance gym work 50:00 [3]
Tired but good session. Sauna afterwards. Crackin.

Thursday May 1

Note
had uni all day and an on call thing in the evening so no training. Saw the sports doctor though and he did an examination and was happy itb wise so reckon I can run a bit. Excellent.
