A session which can only be described as a disaster...
Started out from the flat heading for prestonpans. It was pissing it down and not exactly warm. But I had the yellow tinted lenses on to make it seem sunny, and a thermal under my cycling top, what could go wrong?!
As it turns out, several thing:
1. Notice that pump which I have attatched to the bike by a couple of velcro bands is coming lose, so try and adjust it and come very close to stacking it which was not nice.
2. five minutes later notice that valve attachment for pump has fallen out so it is now useless...carry on hoping I don't get a puncture.
3. Make it to prestonpans and head back, slowing down for a junction notcice the back wheel is wobbling an unhealthy amount. It appears the wheel is in worse condition than just a broken spoke. Oh well, not option but to carry on and hope the wheel doesn't collapse.
4. Wheel starts making a nasty noise so stop. It is dead flat. Spare inner tube and punture kit pretty useless without a pump. Incidentally it's still pissing it down. This is not so good. No phone, no money. Still the far side of the A1. Looks like I'm walking all the way back. Try a little bit of a cycle along the pavement and the rim snaps completely.
After about a 45min walk in the pissing rain reach the flat. Struggle with the keys because hands are so numb.
I think I'll buy a new bike.
