FWTN 3 at Costorphine Hill. I was planning tonight so got there early to hang the controls. What a night! Where to start... Got there, set off into the forest...oh feck, it's misty. Add to the darkness, there was a thick mist everywhere. You could see about 1m. If I hadn't pre ran the course in the day I would really have been struggling! But luckily I recognised the control sights so knew they were all in the right place. The mist also made it bloody scary at times! I tried to control this fear by thinking logically - i.e. no axe murderer would be out in a wood in the thick mist just hoping someone might come past. so I coped. Beforehand I'd debated whether I was making the course too hard. Then a few alterations debated a little whether it was too easy. Thank god I didn't make it any harder! People actually went out there with petzyls. Mad. No way I would have. Anyway, when people started the mist actually lifter a little which was good. Things were going well until Mike Mciver appeared out of the forest with his face all swollen up and struggling to breathe. He was having an anaphylactic reaction to something in the forest and wasn't in a very good way. So I had a quick trip to the Western General. To cut a long story short...Mike was ok. He needed some medication though and was kept in for a few hours. Everyone got back safely. People seemed happy. All good. Interesting night though!
