Orienteering 20:00 [1]

Putting out some controls for Scotjos.

Running 25:00 [3]
shoes: Walsh pb trainer2

went for a run with SImong to the top of the seat then ran around for a bit.

Orienteering 22:00 [4]
shoes: Walsh pb trainer2

Didn't actually time it, but 22min will do. Mass start race with scotjos. meant to just run at the front and shadow people a bit, but ended up kind of racing it really. Spongey flew off and got quite a lead. After a wee while I was with Simong with Jamie S still in second. then had two sets of butterfly loops (good course) then I was alone in second. closed on spongey a little, but then went to the top of the seat when the control had been moved down the fence (real men went to the top). so got overtaken by two junior I think. good fun. ran quite hard. felt ok i suppose

Note
(rest day)

Went to brunch at my DoS's house. Mmm, pain o chocolat... Then was going to go for a run but decided that I wasn't really free of cold yet, so didn't. Went to the Scotland game, a lot better than the score suggests! frustrating. Then had a haggis supper. job done

Free Weights 30:00 [3]
shoes: Brooks adrenaline

Free weights session down St Leanards. Getting up early for this was a real sturggle! Really an induction for the freshers on the team busary, but I went too to help out where I could, listen to Steve's chat and get some tips myself. Turned out to be a really good session. Steve was on good form and I came away quite enthustiastic. Should have a good group down there soon.
Did various weights. Some heavy, some not.

Orienteering 1:00:00 [2] 5.0 km (12:00 / km)
ahr:143 max:175 shoes: olways

FWTN 3 at Costorphine Hill. I was planning tonight so got there early to hang the controls. What a night! Where to start... Got there, set off into the forest...oh feck, it's misty. Add to the darkness, there was a thick mist everywhere. You could see about 1m. If I hadn't pre ran the course in the day I would really have been struggling! But luckily I recognised the control sights so knew they were all in the right place. The mist also made it bloody scary at times! I tried to control this fear by thinking logically - i.e. no axe murderer would be out in a wood in the thick mist just hoping someone might come past. so I coped. Beforehand I'd debated whether I was making the course too hard. Then a few alterations debated a little whether it was too easy. Thank god I didn't make it any harder! People actually went out there with petzyls. Mad. No way I would have. Anyway, when people started the mist actually lifter a little which was good. Things were going well until Mike Mciver appeared out of the forest with his face all swollen up and struggling to breathe. He was having an anaphylactic reaction to something in the forest and wasn't in a very good way. So I had a quick trip to the Western General. To cut a long story short...Mike was ok. He needed some medication though and was kept in for a few hours. Everyone got back safely. People seemed happy. All good. Interesting night though!

runners circuits 1:00:00 [4]

Meant to take it easy at this session. Turned into a hard session and sweated a lot. Oops. Was good though.

Orienteering 48:00 [1] 5.0 km (9:36 / km)
shoes: Walsh pb trainer2

Pre running my FTWN race and making a few adjustments. Cold still there so just took it really easy. Costorphine hill is quite a tricky area! Driving in Edinburgh is soooo annoying.
