Orienteering 1:00:46 [3] 8.3 km (7:19 / km) +385m 5:57 / km
shoes: olways

ESOA champs at Penicuik estate. Freezing! Area quite tough with steep slippy hills. I was knackered! Feeling yesterday in the legs so was a real effort all the way round. Caught and passed by Scotia running a different pace. Made one mistake on no. ten, but the control was hung too low down the reentrant. Good to be out.

Running 22:00 [2]
shoes: olways

Some running afterwards with Scotia to make it a long run.

Running race 37:20 [5] 10.0 km (3:44 / km)
shoes: Brooks mach 9

Scottish Unis XC at Heriot Watt uni.
Beforehand wasn't aiming too high after poor training lately, but had taken some confidence from Braids (despite being beaten by Dixie!) Good strong field and a mighty EUH&H contingent out in force. Plan was to start steady and see where I was and try and move through the field. Definately felt like the best xc race I have run. Did start steady and first lap felt quite easy. Then on the second picked it up a little and pulled away for doug but pace still felt ok and left plenty for the final lap. Last lap was able to keep pushing and finished a few seconds behind Hector. Had a sprint finish with Kyle Cowie but just lost out (though it was on eof my better efforts). Almost caught Haskett which would have been nice. Overall very happy with the race. Good tactics and think it played to my strengths. I don't really lack strength or stamina, but need to improve speed and lactate threshold a lot. So keeping it controlled and not getting into oxygen debt early on was the way to go.
Recntly training has been poor and I was getting a bit down feeling like I had lost a lot of shape. After today it seems my shape isn't that bad.
Time for to push on with some proper training now!

Little set of 5 x 1min/1min in inch park with Doug. So tired this morning. Actually felt ok though. Plenty of sleep tonight and hopefully be fine to race tommorow. Testing out the new spikes. sweet.

Orienteering race 44:00 [2]
shoes: Walsh pb trainer2

FWTN at Balckford. A tricky course planned by Jess. Was feeling crap so just jogging round really. Could find no.8 I think. Was in the right place initially. Think it had fallen down or something. Then fell down a crag at no. 16. Ouch. So god to be out and get rid of the headache though.

Feeling totally shafted today. Hopefully not coming down with something. Too much work and not enough sleep over the past few days:(
