Cycling 1:30:00 [2] 33.0 km (2:44 / km)

Cycle with Jess out through Dalkeith, over the hill to Tranent and back through the 'pans.
What a day! Started off lovely sunshine. Heading up the hill to Tranent we commented about hot warm it was, and that Jess could have done without her jacket. Glance over towards Edinburgh...hmmm, thats an awful dark cloud...
As we turned for home, the heavens opened! Got totally soacked in a couple of minutes and it was suddenly freezin! My thin thermal and cycling top did little to combat the rain. Still had about 40min to get back and another haevy shower including some hail ensued. In the end I was frozen to the bone. Never been so cold. This doesn't happen while running..:(
Almost died...
Bloody achilles (which incidently is bloody sore when walking and generally a bit screwed:(

Orienteering race 12:43 [5] 2.9 km (4:23 / km)
(injured) shoes: Walsh pb trainer2

ESOC sprint O at Hopetoun House.
Prologue.
First run in 2 weeks thanks to achilles. Injury not totally better but thought I would give it a go with the aim of running BUSA.
Running didn't feel smooth in this race. Navigation was ok though, planned ahead ok, couple of tiny errors. Min down on Scotia though:(
Achilles, a bit sore.

Orienteering race 11:47 [5] 2.7 km (4:22 / km)
(injured) shoes: Walsh pb trainer2

ESOC sprint O chase.
Crackin wee course.
Set off in third 1 min down on Scotia and 10s down on Godders, with ray Ward 3s behind! Quickly formed a wee pack with Dave and Ray. Led onthe way to number six, caught sight of Scott (surprisingly!), that few seconds of distartion meant we overshot 6. Still made it to 7 first, then proceeded to cock up 8 stupidly. Had to run hard to catch up Dave and Ray again (Ray had taken the wise choice of following Dave to 8!)
Got into the lead again on the way to 13 and ran hard with Ray in tow. Tried to dart fast past the green near the penultimate but Ray still on my tail. Out into the open for the last control and run in. Ray edges pased and I get outsprinted. Glance round to check that 3rd is safe and it is. Good fun! Couple of poor controls but otherwise ok.

Running warm up/down 15:00 [1]
(injured) shoes: Walsh pb trainer2

Unfortunately achilles significantly sorer after the race:(

Cycling 1:00:50 [3] 27.0 km (2:15 / km)
ahr:142 max:166

Out the back of the BGH towards Lillisleaf. Turned at 30mins at the Livesys roadend and back via Midlem. Windy today and legs pretty tired. Steadyish pace.

Cycling tempo 1:00:17 [4] 28.17 km (2:08 / km)

Was just itching to get outside and do something fast. Out on the bike before lunch. Through Gattonside, under leaderfoot, hard up hill, past Scotts view (can't remember even glancing at the view, must have been trying hard!) down to St Boswells (decent head wind kicking in now, ouch), past Charslfield, up hill behind back of Eildons and down the other side back to BGH. Done. Worked hard all the way. Legs felt decent.
More importantly, achilles much better.
No pain on walking, only slight pain on calf raises. Running soon.

core/balance gym work 45:00 [3]
shoes: Brooks adrenaline

Hit the gym at Tweedbank with Big Phil. Did some over head squats, some leg raises and some core stuff. Legs pretty tired. Jogged for 5mins on the treamill to see how achilles was. It was ok. Easy spin for 10min to finish then some stretching.

(rest day)

A bit annoying not to fit training in today but had arranged to visit granparents. Awesome lemon merangue pie.
