Harvester Relays 2010.
What a shocker!!
Running leg three (long night) for the mighty FVO. Made an almighty cock up at number 3 losing 16....yes 16min...on a 2min leg about 50m from a path! Worst mistake I've made in a long time. The map was not great, but that was nae excuse, especially for that leg. Was a slight stroke of luck that Ed Catmur caught me at that one so I ran with hime for a wee while. Was pretty devastated after that mistake but Ed was running quite well so that kept me moving at a decent speed. Once we hit the open I decided to put the boot in a bit and try to lose Ed. Once we got into the south bit of forest I took a straight route to the next control and got away. At this point I was moving quite well and attacking the forest. Hit the next 4 pretty well at a good speed for the night. Surprised to catch Camel at 18. Game on again! Ran hard to 19 then we split opposit ways for the butterflies. Confident I could get away if I kept the o going well. I didn't...two big cock ups, one on each loop put paid to that. Managed to catch John again at no. 26 and held a slender lead to the finish.
Overall....a disaster really! There was a chance there to put out FVO with a decent lead, but not with orienteering like that.
Next year.

Orienteering race 17:44 [4] 3.2 km (5:32 / km)
shoes: olways

Hargate Sprint round one. Very sloppy! Seems everyone was though...mainly because the map was crap!

Orienteering race 14:40 [5] 2.9 km (5:03 / km)
shoes: olways

Hargate Sprint round 2. Came together at a dodgy number one then had a wee race. Good route on the long leg by Mr Rocke was the clincher (in the battle for the 4th that was). Good fun.

Running warm up/down 20:00 [1] 3.0 km (6:40 / km)

Dumyat Hill race.
First hill race in ages! Bit rushed from work, but made it in time. Crap warm-up then bang went the gun. Started fastish in an attempt not to get boxed. Legs not loving it when we hit the hill, lactate time! Felt like I struggled uphill, legs a bit leaden. Dug in just behind Rosco at the top. Had a good descent though. New shoes doing the job! Managed to finish first FVO. Strong running by M Strain. Hopefully get a good few more hill races in this summer.

Running warm up/down 20:00 [1] 3.5 km (5:43 / km)

Running 1:00:04 [3] 12.53 km (4:48 / km) +330m 4:14 / km
shoes: Brooks adrenaline 2009

Bit late back from work...and in a bit of a boo. Nice steady run to lift the spirits. Ran out through Polmaise and up the path above the first set of crags in Sauchie (nice wee path), then back along the path that runs beneath them then back along the road to home. Legs a wee bit tired, but not too sore which is nice. Got chased by an angry dog, but turned around and gave it a bollocking and it ran away. grrr
