White course at Peebles Island -- EMPO Club Champs. Perhaps we won the special category for two dads shepherding two preschool boys. Fun to get out but not quite long enough to see some of the really nice views, but I'll take it. Did get to see the funny old timey boat (The Half Moon?) and go under the bridge like trolls. Went out with a friend of Max's from school and his Dad -- I'm getting to be an orienteering evangelist. Sort of.

Splits are all messed up; track was recorded on my phone. Eh. Distance seems OK. Had to manually guess at the time.

Run / Walk 33:39 [3] 2.93 km (11:29 / km) +107m 9:43 / km

Run/walk at Lisha Kill... have to get used to doing something again now that house repairs are winding down. Started near dusk and ended in darkness. Snow was falling -- I could feel it, but couldn't see it. Only fell twice! Eventually I'll be running here with my eyes closed.

Orienteering race 1:32:43 [1] 2.6 km (35:38 / km) +25m 34:00 / km

White course at Five Rivers... escorted Zoe and Max around a nice little white course. Zoe took some initiative and wanted to do the navigating! She actually did OK, to my surprise. I had to help her in a few places and show her how to orient the map, but eventually she even sort of thumbed and kept it oriented. Pretty good! Max even walked the whole way. First time I orienteered through a group of painters.

Thanks Frank!
