Cycling - Road intervals 1:10:00 [4]

Raining again so I went back to the rec center, alone this time, for some more intervals. 10x2min + 5x1min today. Legs felt really good even though it's been quite a while since I've been doing intervals.

Also, realised that I managed to get a KOM (King of the Mountain) on strava over at Bottle Lake track a couple of weeks ago. Pretty stoked as it's sort of a well used track and it was only 3rd time there. Gonna try to go back to improve thye time later.

Cycling - Road intervals 1:10:00 [4]

I've been a bit lazy with the intervals since I got to New Zealand (there's simply so much stuff to explore!!). Anyway since it rained today I thought it would be a good idea to get started again. Randolf joined me in the Rec center for som sufferfest... 8x3min at about 90% of max pulse.

Alt. training (Bouldering) 30:00 [2]

Running - hard ground tempo 1:02:00 [3] 13.5 km (4:36 / km)
ahr:159 slept:7.0

There has been talk around here about doing the Christchurch Marathon in june. I think that it would be a cool thing to do but I'm not sure that I wanna commit to the training needed (especially as I feel that I'm in far from the running shape I used to be in!).

So I went for a run to check what my normal running tempo would be like and in what type of shape I'm in. It did go a lot better then expected and when just running my normal speed I did 10k in under 45min which means that I could probably do it a lot faster in a race and with some training.

But before I decide on the marathon I'm gonna do some local running races. First up is City to Surf (14km) on the 24th of mars.

Cycling - MTB 1:20:00 [2]

Went out to Mcleans Island Forest with UC Bike for the Specialized demo day. Tried the Epic and the stumpjumper and had my gps on to be able to compare afterward.

First of all: I'm way way faster on the 29er then on my 26er FS Giant Anthem I normally ride here (I've ridden this one section 6 times before on the giant with max effort and I'm 1min 20sek slower with the 26er! The section took me 4,38 with the stumpjumper (HT) and 4,39 with the Epic (FS).

The HT felt more responsive then the FS and would definitely be my choice as it's not as expensive with hardtails as with full suspension bikes.

Cycling - MTB hills 5:42:00 [3] 81.0 km (14.2 kph) +1400m

Talked to a dude, at one of the bike stores in town, that told me about this great peace of singletrack that I needed to do. Went up Dyers pass and then headed out east along the singletrack along the ridge. Road turned out ot be closed of tho so I had to go down and then climb up again on the other side (Mt Pleasant road). Got to the top again and found the track which was one of the best singletracks I've been on in my life! 1,5h of constant slight downhill and great technical riding. So stoked!

Pretty boring ride to get back tho, but well worth it!
