Cycling - MTB race 1:10:00 [4]

VM-Stafett. Bra O-tekniskt lopp men riktigt trött efter långdistansen.

Friday Jul 29, 2016 #

Cycling - MTB race 2:20:00 [4]

VM-lång. 23:a. Länge på väg mot en 12:e plats men det grymt varma vädret gjorde att jag fick värmeslag på slutet och bommade bort mig på lätta kontroller. Segt att min kropp inte klara värme bättre men knappast förvånande.

Feel tired as.... Even with 10h of sleep, the training of the last couple of weeks is starting to get to me. But with that said, I am feeling strong. In the last couple of sessions I've been really fatigued, but behind that I've still felt strong and I have been able to push myself in training.
As next week will be an easy one I really hope (and think) that my body will bounce back and I'll be able to "come out and play" once the racing starts.

Running - soft ground 1:16:00 [3] 12.0 km (6:20 / km)

Cycling - MTB tempo (Orienteering) 2:05:00 [3] 42.0 km (20.2 kph)

First about 45min MTBO course in Storvreta. Had a pretty good flow now but wasn't really pushing to much. Followed up by 5x1min with 2min rest and then some easy endurance miles.

Running - soft ground long 1:32:00 [3] 14.0 km (6:34 / km)
slept:10.0 weight:73.4kg

Trail run. Didn't feel all that good in the beginning. From my parents place out onto the local trail (super technical trails with tons of roots and rocks). Started to find myc rhythm and started to go faster. Felt better and better on the technical stuff.

Longest run in a long time and the first one in a while where I don't feel sore afterwards. I do feel a bit of a lingering fatigue in "the backround", sort of the same stuff I've had this whole season. Gonna be good to get an easy week next and see what will happen to the body.

Swimming race 27:58 [4] 1.5 km (18:39 / km)
slept:10.0

Xterra Tisvilde swim. I'm not a swimmer and with only 1 swim training this year I knew I was gonna be slow. And the waves where big(!) Ocean swims ar not my thing!

Got away good though and was probably around 10th going around the first buoy but I didn't have any rythm at all. Lost a few places after that on that first lap. Going on to the second lap i found my rythm and was able to push a bit more. Also my timing got a lot better and I didn't swallow nay more water...

Got out of the water as 16th. Overall the swimtimes where slow, but I was 5min behind.

Had a quick T1.
11 AM

Cycling - MTB race 1:27:10 [4] 30.0 km (20.7 kph)

Xterra bike leg. Felt pretty good going out on the bike as I knew it's my strenght. Had some problems in the beginning with getting stuck behind people. Also, it always feels kind of weird pushing hard on the bike after a swim.

Had no idéa of where I was in the field until I finished the first lap and someone was yelling that I was in 4th spot. At this point I was passing people who where doing there first lap and I had to start going around people again.

Finally with only 4-5k to go I caught the 3rd guy (another swede) who'd been first out of the water, and maybe 1k later I passed the next guy. Slowed down going into T2 in order to get my pulse down and recover a bit.

Did another fast transition and when out on the run.
12 PM

Running - soft ground race (Trail) 48:59 [4]

Downed a couple of mugs of sports drink going out on the run (bad idea) and after only 3-4 min of running I started getting stomach cramps. Struggled to keep a good pace and walked on every uphill. Didn't see anyone coming from behind though which really helped with my motivation.

Passed the first 5k at 24,45 and going out on the second lap I started to feel a lot better. Could see some of the guys going in to lap and figured that I had about a 2min gap. Pushed hard on the second lap and felt good.

Going out on the sand dunes I knew there was no way anyone was gonna catch me (every lap ended with 1,5km of running in the sand = the reason for slow times).

Kept a decent pace but slowed a bit for the finish. My run time was only 36sec of the fastest time (which says a lot about the conditions).

Happy and surprised about the 2nd spot and I couldn't have done anything about the winner today. Need to work on my swim and run if I wanna brake into the PRO field at Xterra Denmark in about 2months time.
7 PM

Cycling - MTB 1:35:00 [3]

Finished up a good day with some MTBO (about 25min min) followed by some xco training in Helsingör before taking the ferry back to Sweden.

Cycling - MTB 57:00 [2]
slept:5.0

Easy lap on the Xterra Tisvilde bike course. Not really sure why, but my body felt like shit. Maybe the 9h car ride is to blame?
