Saturday Mar 29

orienteering race 52:20 [5]9.4 km (5:34 / km)
Spring Cup Classic
Gribskov Mid

Legs felt pretty tired from the start but kept pushing and focused on orienteering well. was clean apart from losing 15sec on number 1,30sec disorientated at a track junction and another 20 on a short leg in the green. apart from that ok but just tired.

pleased with run and happy with position.

Friday Mar 28

Gym 30:00 [3]
pre breakfast strenght session led by gg

nice way to end the week before heading down to denmark for the spring cup

Thursday Mar 27

orienteering 56:00 [4]6.21 km (9:01 / km)
Torslanda

middle training put on by the club.
nice open rock area, and there was less snow which was nice.

jog out to start then 6 short loops 400m-1km
then a long legs course back to the cars

orienteering 40:00 [3]5 km (8:00 / km)
ojerjo

relay training, mass start gaffled.
The snow was definetly the worst here of any area, up to my knees in some places.
spiked the first 5 so had a bit of a lead but then screwed up the long leg, was in the circle but didn't see it then went to relocate john caught me then we missed it again! spongy passed us so we were chasing him for the last couple, he won with john about 5 secs down and me 10secs further back.

knackered:)

Wednesday Mar 26

orienteering 1:14:22 [3]7.5 km (9:55 / km)
Getryggen

Mass start Long training with a gaffled loop in the middle.
again there was lots of snow so the going was tough but it was just awesome! puntered abit at the start and lost the pack of guys but by the loop had caught back a bit and me and john ran the long leg together out round the track and i got away from him on the last technical loop. rhodri and spongy went for the hard man option on the long leg and went straight, due to the snow it was a bit slower:)

orienteering 10:00 [3]
sprint training, on the area used for Oringen 2004 prologue.

4 loops, mass start gaffled races, with an easy line in between each start.
only ran the first loop cos i was tired and had some chest pains. i ran it badly, really srewing up the long leg into the wood, just didn't adjust pace.

Tuesday Mar 25

Gym (Goteborg training camp) 30:00 [3]
Strenght session lead by GG
nice to rest the legs after a tough weekend
Note
Junior Squad weekend in Goteborg

Jase, gareth, jenny j and gg the coaching team
orienteering 48:48 [3]4 km (12:12 / km)
Jonsered Norr

short course to start off the week.
lots of snow, about 30cm, so it was tough going and i was tired, and making some mistakes so cut off last loop.
about 4k probs

Monday Mar 24

orienteering race (Jk Relay) 33:11 [5]6.3 km (5:16 / km)
First leg for Edinburgh University

me-duncan coombs-hector haines-scott fraser

we were up against some tough competition from Kristiansand and SYO, with OD and ShUOC also fielding strong teams.

good run finishing in a pack lead by John, Rasmus Djurhuus and ian nixon, with a nc guy a few seconds out in front.
coombs and hector had solid runs to send scotia out in 4th with a chance of podium. in the driving hail he had a good run passing craney to bring home the bronze.
EUOC,EUOC

Sunday Mar 23

orienteering race (Jk Long) 1:06:01 [5]12 km (5:30 / km) +490m 4:34 / km
Ashdown forest

pretty clean run again, losing about 2min over the course.
most of my mistakes due to loss of concentration, not surprising since our course was very poor and was just a physical test not a technical one.

Finished 2nd again, behind Erik. which was a bit dissapointing but pleased with my performances.
John grabbed the last podium spot, Rhodri just 17s behind, really enjoyed how close competition was.
