Pick-up at Thornell, 11v11 w/ goalies and subs. Pitch was a little better from the rains yesterday, but still pretty hard for cleats.

Green course at Dryer/Ft. Hill/Ganondagon

Started 1-3 at a slow pace to stay on map with all the trails, and so hit all three cleanly. At 4&5, picked up the pace a bit. At 6, ran into a bit of trouble reading the contours and ended up losing quite a bit of time by looping all the way around the hill and attacking from the E - should have stayed on the trail and attacked from N - had too much confidence in my ability. Slowed down to pick up 7&8 then cut across the open field to hit the trail to 9. Overshot the ideal route to 9, but recognized the overshoot, headed straight S and looped around to 9 from the E side, which was an easy swamp crossing anyway.

Picked up a trail in the green area and went hard for a bit - until I realized I was not on the trail I was on. Another nice time sponge. Finally just went with intuition and headed NE in the open field and picked the vegetation patch.11 - 17 hit cleanly, though I had to slow down again to stop doing stupid stuff, and it seemed to work.

Overall, too many navigation errors (and not enough speed to start with) to be competitive, but really enjoyed the map. Nice job on the coursesetting and mapping.
