Saturday May 3 | ||
| Event: West Point A-Meet | ||
| Cycling 1:45:00 [4] 47.3 km (2:13 / km) | ||
| shoes: Trek 2300 | ||
| Out Quaker Meeting House to 65 to West Bloomfield, across on Baker, back through Ionia to 64 to Taylor. Short ride on the new bike to make sure everything's aligned. As it was, the trek saddle was not comfortable. Got back and swapped it out for the cheap (but comfortable) Concor from the Panasonic. Much better ride. Also still getting used to the new Look pedals and cleats.
All in all, for the first real ride of the year, nice speed. Will have to take the Galli out later so it doesn't get jealous of the new kid on the block!
Friday May 2 | ||
| Soccer race 1:45:00 [5] | ||
| First game of the season against Penfield Rangers. Won 3-1 on three nice goal from midfielders (Dennis, Mark, and John). Played left defense most of the game which was out of position for me, but so what? Win's a win. | ||
| Mountain Biking 1:15:00 [3] 23 km (3:16 / km) | ||
| shoes: Giant Sedona | ||
| Ride to game, from game to Thirsty's (does that really count as training?) and then from Thirsty's home. | ||
Thursday May 1 | ||
| Walking hills 40:00 [2] | ||
| Powder Mills, hills S of Woolston, easy hiking | ||
Wednesday Apr 30 | ||
| Mountain Biking 2:10:00 [3] 38.2 km (3:24 / km) | ||
| weight:205lbs shoes: Giant Sedona | ||
| Auburn Trail to LVT, W past Rochester Junction to old trestle bridge over the river. Cool night, 32F, no breeze. | ||
Tuesday Apr 29 | ||
| Soccer 1:20:00 [4] | ||
| Team Practice at Meridian with the O40 A team, mixed around. Played mostly center mid/D. Cool night but warmed up quickly. | ||
Sunday Apr 27 | ||
| Event: ROC - Oatka Creek Park | ||
| Soccer race 1:15:00 [4] | ||
| weight:204lbs | ||
| Indoor game against Inter. They happen to be younger, faster and more skilled than our team, so . . . we lost 4-2. Final tuneup before outdoor league starts Friday.
Bounced around between center D, wing D and wing midfield. Plenty of opportunity to run without twisting the ankles in the potholes at Meridian Center.
| Orienteering race (Sprint Course) 24:22 [5] 2.6 km (9:22 / km) | ||
| weight:204lbs | ||
| Sprint course at Oatka Creek Park. Very fun course, ran a bit tentatively but was happy with the time. Slow on the longer legs (9-10, 3-4 and to a lesser extent 10-11). Tried running along fences a bit too much, when a little longer rout on a trail would have been faster.

| Orienteering race (Green Course) 1:20:00 [3] | ||
| weight:204lbs | ||
| Ran the Red/Green/etc. course at Oatka. Intended on Red, but had to get home early so cut it short after 20 controls. Not specifically trying for speed, rather visiting far corners of the park, and specifically ignored four controls relatively close to the start.
Not a bad way to see the park! Oatka creek looked very inviting, almost wanted to wade across to get #27.
