Cycling (BMC URS 3) 1:18:45 [3] 17.2 mi (13.1 mph) +1247ft
shoes: Shimano RX8 Wide

8 weeks post-op. Just riding along. exploring, trying to spin easy without pushing with left knee. This is earlier
than doc would like so margin for error.

First ride outside in 3yrs, and 1st on XL BMC URS
Never ridden a bike like this. Definitely more of a MTB than road/gravel.

Rear elastomer Bobbing is disconcerting. 35 psi. in 42c tires.
Knee was ok but strictly seated, 90+ cadence.
Still don’t have control of left quad.
Pedaling squares. Maybe the bobbing is a good thing, a la Softride bikes - no choice but perfect stroke.

Spectacular route from home, miles along the cliff ZERO Cars up here. Love it.

Raise saddle ~1cm, seat back ~.5cm, look into longer stem. I get it wrt to the MTB geometry but need another cm somewhere. maybe lower too.

1st ride in Shimano RX8 wide gravel shoes. Awesome.
Did not even think about them the whole ride - good sign!
Q factor seems just right.

Cycling (KickR) 1:00:00 [3]

Woke up to go downstairs to take Ripley out at 12:45am

Tomorrow is 8 weeks post-op. The most dangerous period is over.

The swelling is way down, but does come back slightly when I do any type of stairs or loading. Still using the cold compression machine over the last few days, which may help. First bike ride outside will be this week, following orders to keep it super easy and zero risk. No hills or trails for a while.

I still cannot really "Fire" the quad and walking up/down stairs is still weird, and scary. Definitely still pain under patella when stepping onto a stair, and cannot really flex/push off without feeling pain under patella. It does get better each week. I cannot wait to feel the contraction, "pump" and soreness in quad again. It's weird to see the leg so small.

Baby steps!
