JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge race in Central Park. Not a good time for racing after wrist surgery I had at 7:30 in the morning. Now I have to carry extra weight for few weeks - a metal pin that goes through the broken bone and adjacent one. I started too fast - 5:55 the first mile, but kept watching my HR. It went up to the roof after 2nd mile and I slowed down. I thought, how good would be to get back my blood sample taken before the morning surgery...

From home to West side in Manhattan and back to Lutheran Medical Center ER. I'm out of luck this season again. I crashed on the West side at 6:30AM when a running lady suddenly decided to make a U-turn when I was passing her. She didn't respond to my whistle since she was listening for music. I did my best to avoid a collision and just touched her. I landed hard though. Result - badly dislocated right pinky finger (it looked like stairs) and broken wrist bone just above it. The broken bone was also twisted a bit. The worst thing in this injury that I have to take the subway :(

Long Island Gold Coast Triathlon. I wasn't lucky on the race day - my rear wheel caught a piece of glass just a minute into the race warm up. I don't carry spare tires on sprint triathlons, but usually keep a pair of training wheels in my car trunk. I didn't have too much choice, but swap my racing wheel (Reynolds DV UL, Vittoria Crono Evo CS tubular, 1.03 kg with Dura Ace cassette) with training wheel (Dura Ace hubs, Mavic Open Pro Ceramic rims, Conti 3K GP, 1.55 kg with Dura Ace cassette). To my surprise, I was able to beat my last year bike split by 1 minute and complete the bike course 17th and 28th overall out of 647 .
