wee run to loosen off after yesterday

Wednesday Oct 29

running race 13:00 [5] 4 km (3:15 / km) vdot: 62.3
shoes: Inov8 mudclaw 2
Ayrshire schools xc champs
really tough race, short enough so that it was pretty much full out the whole way
really really windy and cold
was in the leading group inching past and being overtaken by the guy in first constantly speeding up
he was so strong, and burned me off on a steep hill near the end on the last loop.
got 2nd place and our school won (absolutely dominated) the senior race with a 2nd, 4th, 8th and 10th
we will get a team for the scottish schools as well now!
C • nice one 3
orienteering 33:00 [3] ** 5 km (6:36 / km)
shoes: Inov8 mudclaw 2
S.T.A.G night o at bellahousten park
cool format, you had to do the controls in consecutive order from which ever one you started at, it meant you had to take really obscure routes.
bit knackered but still fun and got confused several times.

was great to run on scotlands very first orienteering area. and it was probably one on the best areas in scotland i have ever ran on.
as for my run.... utter rubbish.
lost about 1.30 over first few controls
then totally blew it on number six. i have no idea what i was playing at. i was in the complete wrong reentrant. hadn't gone far enough. what an idiot. not surprisingly ralph caught me there. recon i lost well over 4 mins. stupid!!!
then kept on making other errors 8,13,15,16,21
really bad run

though everyone else had amazing runs and Scotland won!!

orienteering race 42:30 [5] 6.8 km (6:15 / km) +190m 5:29 / km
at dalnamien
great area. set off just in front of chris smithard
had different gaffles but kept seeing him on the way round. quite simular from 1-7 then i took a different route choice and then he found the wrong control. he caught me up again in the woods at the end where i was a bit hesitant but then diddn't see him after the third last control. managed to finish a minute in front of him.
quite a steady run. pretty smooth apart from number 4 and 17

so glad that i got selected for this and missed the omm. it was pretty wet and wild at dalnamein
