Orienteering race 58:26 [4] *** 8.76 km (6:40 / km)
spiked:14/16c shoes: Adidas Swoop 2

NOY6 at Belford
Was feeling like a very run-able area from the off, so opened up the throttle out of no 1. Went over on my ankle again within a few hundred metres, booo!
Eased off on the pace, and was much more careful with foot placement for the rest of the course.
Smooth enough run overall ,with three minor hiccups:
9-10 Veered off my v rough aiming-off bearing to the track, cautiously turned left when the map didnt match but worked it out within 50-75m.
14: Ran with confidence using gully and veg to center of circle on map. No sign of control. Followed edge of the vegetation and found icontrol another 60-70 m along
15: (Partly as a result of 14 being in wrong place) started running up the wrong gully. Thickening veg quickly put me right.

Happy with time in light of caution re ankle. Definitely one of the better days in terms of nav.

Edit: 5th of 13. 8:24 down on winner (closest %-wise in a while)
Splits suggest control no 1 as the only 'error', so perhaps being over cautious whilst trying to get my head into the map. Surprised (considering ankle) to be 2nd on a good number of legs, including joint 2nd on the c. 2km leg to no 11.

Orienteering 30:00 [2]
shoes: Adidas Swoop 2

Collecting some controls (c 20% walking)
Included No. 14 and verified as not in the circle .... but not sure if thick veg on map is quite right either.

Flexibility 1:00:00 [1]

Turns out the fill-in during Rebeccas break supposedly does 'restorative' yoga.
However she was crap at giving instruction, got grumpy if you didnt understand or asked Qs, and regularly flipped between three physiological nomenclatures in a single sentence (yoga terms, scientific, and ordinary English).

Just not good enough really.
